Title: Supplier Warranty Engineer
Overview
In collaboration with the Supplier Warranty Program Manager, the Supplier Warranty Engineer will assume technical responsibility for the Warranty Partnership Program, including continuous improvement initiatives and supplier recovery activities.
The role serves as a key communication link between warranty parts data analysis, parts return, supplier quality engineering, and the supplier base. The engineer will coordinate and facilitate activities related to the technical aspects of the Supplier Warranty Partnership Program, with a focus on improving product quality, reducing warranty costs, and strengthening supplier performance.
 
Responsibilities
•    Support all technical aspects of the Supplier Warranty Partnership Program.
•    Partner closely with Supplier Quality Engineering to develop, retrieve, analyze, and utilize field data to continuously improve products and reduce warranty costs.
•    Drive continuous improvement through the Warranty Supplier Corrective Action Request (WARSCAR) process.
•    Work closely with data and analytics teams to establish data requirements that enable rapid identification and resolution of supplier warranty concerns.
•    Support the development and implementation of Supplier Warranty KPIs across products and drive organizational awareness and accountability.
•    Conduct ad-hoc analysis and deep dives into specific vehicle technical issues, warranty trends, or service-center operations.
•    Accurately input, maintain, and update evidence and data related to supplier warranty partnership agreements, claims, and performance metrics.
•    Generate regular reports and dashboards using tools such as Hex, Databricks, and other analytics platforms to monitor supplier performance and identify trends.
•    Analyze warranty data to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization within the Supplier Warranty Partnership Program.
•    Coordinate with internal stakeholders to collect relevant data and ensure alignment with program objectives.
•    Communicate effectively with suppliers to collect required information and resolve discrepancies, data gaps, or performance issues.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technicians, engineers, manufacturing teams, Supplier Quality, and customer service representatives, to improve supplier warranty data and support program objectives.
•    Support supplier recovery initiatives and ensure appropriate technical evidence is available to support warranty-related claims.
•    Track actions, trends, and outcomes and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
 
Requirements
•    Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline; Master's degree preferred.
•    4+ years of experience with automotive supplier warranty data and statistical analysis.
•    Strong statistical analysis, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
•    Experience with data visualization and analytics tools such as Hex and exposure to platforms including Databricks.
•    Working knowledge of JIRA or similar project/workflow management tools.
•    Knowledge of AIAG, VDA, APQP, and related automotive quality tools and methodologies.
•    Demonstrated experience driving quality improvements and improving overall vehicle attribute performance.
•    Strong technical knowledge of automotive systems, components, manufacturing processes, and supplier quality.
•    Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities across different geographic locations.
•    Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, quality, service, and supplier organizations.
•    Proven ability to communicate technical issues and data-driven findings effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
•    Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.
 
Preferred Skills
•    Experience in automotive warranty, supplier quality, or field quality environments.
•    Experience with warranty claims, parts returns, failure analysis, and supplier recovery.
•    Experience developing supplier performance metrics and KPI dashboards.
•    Experience working with large automotive datasets and identifying warranty trends.
•    Familiarity with corrective-action methodologies and supplier escalation processes.
•    Experience working in a fast-paced, highly cross-functional automotive organization.
