- Incumbent is responsible for managing systems (e.g. Host Based Security System (HBSS)), developing policies and procedures to protect key information systems that prevent/defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data.
- Evaluates the impact to Mission Assurance of key Information Systems operating with HBSS, such as, but not limited to, Retina, Assured Client Assessment Solution (ACAS), or other approved IA tools, to assess the security posture of monitored systems.
- Leads or co-leads HBSS Event Analysis Process and validates unknown behavior with appropriate functional group through ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) or HBSS Analysis and Host Intrusion Prevention System Tuning Tool.
- Closely coordinates the conduct of standard security product audits with unit Information Security Division to determine if operational processes, procedures, and configurations meet DoD IA criteria.
- Works with system administrators to evaluate GOTS, COTS, and/or in-house developed products to ensure the systems operate as designed with HBSS, current system vulnerability scanners, and other mission assurance tools.
- Assists in defining mitigating controls and support efforts to document, test, and accept system design changes that might impact a site's security posture.
- Works with systems administrators to install, configure and test mission assurance software and policies on workstations, servers, and networks. Documents and performs version control of settings and policies on mission assurance systems.

- In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) as a condition of employment.
- Incumbent is subject to initial and random drug testing.
- Incumbent is subject to recall or call back during off shift hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
- Incumbent may be subject to varying work shifts and work shift rotations for mission support requirement of 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, if required by upper management.
- Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I USOGE, 6/08).

Oral Communication -briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience
Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions
ANDQualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
For this position, qualifying experience is defined as:
actively managing and securing information systems using security tools, conducting thorough evaluations to ensure mission assurance and assess security risks, developing and implementing security policies, OR protecting systems, networks, and data from unauthorized access Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. - Salary range includes a Targeted Local Market Supplement (TLMS) in accordance with Section 1599f of Title 10 U.S.C. and Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1400.25, Volume 3006.
- A three-year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
