Job Description:

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of cloud-based solutions within a large-scale, complex enterprise environment. This role focuses on technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and cost/risk/effectiveness analysis across the full systems lifecycle. The candidate will drive functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, and requirements allocation to shape hardware and software specifications, while enabling rapid, reliable delivery of changes and improvements to existing systems. This role suits someone recognized as an emerging technical authority, comfortable exercising independent judgment on complex, loosely defined problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop strategy and integration methodology for the design, development, and implementation of cloud-based solutions.
• Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation for enterprise systems.
• Conduct cost, risk, supportability, and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
• Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, and detailed trade studies to support system design decisions.
• Complete requirements allocation and interface definition studies for hardware and software specifications.
• Design, build, and maintain automated tools and pipelines to support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
• Utilize trends and metrics to identify opportunities for improvement within existing frameworks, tools, and processes.
• Own systems functionality, performance, and configuration issues, troubleshooting and resolving as they arise.
• Enable the quick development and release of changes and bug fixes on an as-required basis.
• Incorporate feedback from developers and users into ongoing releases and system updates.
• Apply extensive technical expertise to develop solutions to complex, novel problems.
• Exercise considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assigned work.
• Collaborate with developers, engineers, cost analysts, and leadership to implement scalable, effective solutions.
• Support multi-cloud environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with applicable security standards and governance policies.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, systems engineering, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to perform technical planning, system integration, and verification/validation activities.
• Experience conducting trade studies, functional analysis, timeline analysis, and requirements allocation.
• Hands-on experience with automation and CI/CD pipeline design and management.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve functionality, performance, and configuration issues.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment in ambiguous or loosely defined situations.
• Recognized as an emerging technical authority, with a track record of applying deep technical expertise to complex problems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting federal, defense, or other mission-critical enterprise environments.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Datadog).
• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and security automation.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.
• Background in interface definition studies and systems engineering trade-off analysis.

Certifications

Required:

• IAT Level II Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+)
• At least one cloud certification

Preferred:

• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
• Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
• Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer
• CompTIA Cloud+
