Postgressql DBA

We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to help build, maintain, and support a reliable and scalable database infrastructure aligned with the organization’s technology roadmap.

The PostgreSQL DBA will work closely with DBAs, Data Architects, Solution Architects, Developers, and Business Analysts to ensure database availability, performance, security, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain PostgreSQL database environments.
• Design and maintain High Availability (HA) database clusters and support Disaster Recovery (DR) planning.
• Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and potential issues.
• Create and manage database objects, including tables, views, triggers, indexes, and schemas.
• Perform regular database backups and restores to protect data integrity and support disaster recovery.
• Perform routine database maintenance activities, including VACUUM and ANALYZE, particularly on large and heavily used tables.
• Monitor database health, availability, capacity, and performance.
• Work with development teams to troubleshoot database-related issues and optimize SQL queries and application performance.
• Support database security by managing access controls, permissions, and related security configurations.
• Participate in database migrations, upgrades, and other infrastructure initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum 4 years of experience working as a PostgreSQL DBA.
• Hands-on experience administering and supporting PostgreSQL databases.
• Experience with PostgreSQL 16 or higher.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL database and SQL performance tuning.
• Experience working with development teams to optimize PostgreSQL databases and SQL queries.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL backup and recovery.
• Experience designing and managing PostgreSQL database schemas.
• Proficiency in SQL and advanced SQL.
• Experience with database security, access controls, roles, and permissions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.

EDB PostgreSQL Experience

Candidates should have at least 3+ years of hands-on EDB PostgreSQL administration experience, including experience with the following:

• EDB Postgres Failover Manager (EFM)
• PostgreSQL Search Path
• EDB Postgres Advanced Server (EPAS) administration
• VACUUM FULL and/or third-party PostgreSQL maintenance tools
• PgBouncer and Pgpool
• EFM and streaming replication
• Logical replication
• Postgres Enterprise Manager (PEM) for database monitoring
• Migration Toolkit (MTK) for Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migrations
• PostgreSQL backup and recovery tools

Preferred Qualifications

• PostgreSQL certification is preferred.
• Experience with Postgres Distributed (PGD) is a plus.
• Experience with MongoDB is preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure is a plus.
• Experience with other database platforms, particularly Oracle, is a plus.
