Job Title: On-Site Survey Data Technician

Job Summary:
The On-Site Survey Data Technician is responsible for collecting, processing, and managing survey data in the field to support engineering, construction, and land development projects. This role ensures accurate data capture using survey equipment and software, maintains data integrity, and assists in translating field measurements into usable deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate survey equipment such as GPS units, total stations, and data collectors to gather accurate field data
  • Record, organize, and verify survey data in real time while on-site
  • Download, process, and perform quality checks on collected data
  • Assist survey crews with layout, staking, and as-built data collection
  • Maintain and troubleshoot survey equipment and data collection tools
  • Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to ensure data meets project requirements
  • Prepare field notes, reports, and documentation for project records
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies or errors in survey data

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree in surveying, geomatics, or related field preferred)
  • Experience with survey equipment (Trimble, Leica, Topcon, etc.)
  • Familiarity with survey software and data processing tools (e.g., Civil 3D, Carlson, Trimble Business Center)
  • Basic understanding of surveying principles and construction practices
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather and terrain conditions
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with pipeline, oil & gas, or construction surveying
  • Knowledge of coordinate systems and data management workflows
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and technical drawings

Work Environment:
  • Primarily field-based with exposure to outdoor conditions
  • May require travel to project sites and extended work hours depending on project needs
