Title: Micro Focus Visual COBOL/.Net Programmer (ONLY W2)

Location: Blythewood, SC (Onsite from Day 1)

Scope of the Project
The role supports development, troubleshooting, modification, and enhancement of core business systems built on a multi-tier architecture. The business application tier uses Micro Focus Visual COBOL running under IIS on Windows Server 2022. Work includes new business function development and enhancements within the existing application framework. Projects may involve online systems, batch programming, data extraction, and reporting across multiple business areas. The role interacts with UI tiers built using .NET technologies and database tiers using SQL and Oracle. Production troubleshooting support is required. The consultant is expected to work with minimal supervision, communicate directly with business area specialists, and handle design, development, testing, and support activities.
Daily Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze Phoenix II, web service, and batch business applications
- Lead analysis and troubleshooting of assigned system issues
- Propose technical solutions
- Code, test, and promote solutions
- Work with impacted users to ensure solutions meet requirements
- Provide daily and weekly status updates to the development manager
Required Skills (Mandatory)
- 8+ years of development experience with Micro Focus Visual COBOL on Windows Server 2019/2022, including batch processing and IIS
- 4+ years of experience using Visual Studio 2019/2022, including debugger usage
- 4+ years of application programming experience with RDBMS (Oracle and SQL)
- Bachelor's degree in IT or related discipline with 8 years of experience OR minimum 10 years of related experience without a degree
- Experience providing production troubleshooting support
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
Preferred Skills (Not Mandatory)
- Experience with Micro Focus COBOL version 7 or higher
- Ability to write complex SQL queries for Oracle and MS SQL databases
- IIS configuration and setup experience
- Skilled in C# and .NET
- Microsoft certifications (specific certification to be listed on resume)
- Micro Focus certifications (specific certification to be listed on resume)
Education
Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology related discipline with 8 years of experience OR minimum 10 years of related experience.
