Mechanical/Dimensional Engineer
Introduction: As a Mechanical/Dimensional Engineer on the team, you will support the development and production of state-of-the-art mechanical designs, structures, mechanisms, and sensor integration solutions that will create transformative experiences for Virtual and Augmented Reality users. You will work with a diverse cross-functional team of engineers and scientists to explore new concepts through analytical modeling and fast iterative prototyping. This role involves working on cutting-edge technologies and driving concepts into prototypes that could transition into high-volume consumer products.
Responsibilities:
- Lead or contribute to geometry control solutions, including 3D dimensional analysis and datum coordination
- Lead tolerance analysis and GD&T development efforts with the design team
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate concepts and detailed designs
- Apply rigorous variation simulation modeling to solve challenging design problems
- Contribute to robust measurement plan execution by supporting gage R&R studies, authoring/reviewing MSOPs, and collaborating with metrology teams
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent experience
- Experience developing 3D variation simulation analyses using software packages such as Siemens VA (VisVSA), 3DCS, CETOL
- 5+ years of industry/academic experience
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing techniques (machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.)
- Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5), tolerance analysis, and associated metrology
- Experience working on design teams throughout the product lifecycle
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of dimensional engineering experience, specifically with application of GD&T and development of 3D variation simulation analyses
- 3+ years working on high-volume products in industries such as consumer tech, automotive, aerospace, etc.
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling (NX preferred)
- Experience creating scripts or algorithms to support measurement data analysis and assembly simulation requirements
- Knowledge of Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Gage R&R, and statistical methods
- Experience using statistical software such as Minitab, Quantum XL, JMP
