Job DetailsWe are seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead product design efforts from concept through production while ensuring designs meet customer requirements, manufacturing capabilities, cost objectives, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
This is a highly visible engineering position supporting Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing, and key customer programs. The Senior Design Engineer will play a critical role in bringing new products from concept through production while ensuring manufacturability, quality, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with sheet metal product design, SolidWorks, manufacturing processes, ERP systems, and cross-functional engineering collaboration.
Responsibilities
Product Design & Development
- Design and develop products using SolidWorks 3D modeling software
- Create detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and engineering documentation
- Develop and manage project timelines throughout the product development process
- Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Create flat patterns and manufacturing documentation for CNC programming
- Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and failure analysis as needed
- Ensure designs comply with customer specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and regulatory requirements
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles throughout the design process
- Manage engineering documentation, part numbers, and revision control
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
- 5+ years of product design experience within a manufacturing environment
- Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks or other 3D parametric CAD software
- Strong understanding of sheet metal design and fabrication processes
- Experience creating detailed manufacturing drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Experience supporting manufacturing and production operations
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and project management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong Design for Manufacturing (DFM) experience
- Experience designing fabricated metal or sheet metal products
- Experience supporting CNC manufacturing environments
- ERP system experience including BOMs, routings, and standard costing
- Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or similar CAD platforms
- Familiarity with UL, ADA, NSF, or related industry standards
- Experience with engineering simulations and failure analysis
- Product development experience within a make-to-order or custom manufacturing environment
