Essential Functions:
  • Summer 2027 paid internship working in Strategic Analytics at EMC Insurance
  • Under close supervision, builds data science solutions.
  • Gathers structured and/or unstructured data to create a modeling dataset, including cleaning and pre-processing data.
  • Performs exploratory data analysis to ensure the data is fit for purpose, discovers and identifies existing relationships, patterns, and trends within the data, and shares results with supervisor for review.
  • Learns EMC and departmental culture, structure, and functions across branches
  • Researches and makes recommendations on at least one emerging technology or innovation
  • Develops understanding of insurance operations, ratemaking, statistical analysis, data management and computer programming

Education & Experience:
  • Data science, actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, or finance major
  • Completion of junior year preferred
  • Interest in property casualty insurance career
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher

  • Good computer skills
