Principal Data & AI Architect (US Public Sector)
📋 Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary Principal Data & AI Architect to lead the strategy, design, and deployment of our next-generation cloud data platforms and Generative AI solutions. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex data engineering, advanced AI retrieval systems, and stringent federal/state security compliance. You will architect secure, scalable blueprints that leverage Microsoft Azure, open-source analytics, and modern Large Language Models (LLMs) to solve critical mission challenges.
🛡️ Core Requirements (Mandatory)
- Citizenship: Must be a (Required for federal contract compliance and potential clearance processing).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a highly related technical field.
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise IT, with a dedicated focus on cloud and data architecture.
🛠️ Technical Responsibilities
- Azure Enterprise Architecture: Design and implement high-availability, fault-tolerant cloud infrastructures utilizing Azure enterprise landing zones.
- Data & Analytics Engineering: Build modern data architectures (Lakehouses, Mesh, Fabrics) using open-source tools (Spark, Delta Lake, Trino) to support real-time and batch analytics.
- Generative AI & Search Integration: Architect enterprise-grade AI retrieval systems, including semantic search, vector databases, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks for LLMs.
- End-to-End Security Architecture: Embed Zero Trust principles, data encryption (at rest/in transit), identity governance (IAM), and secure API management into every layer of the data ecosystem.
🌟 Preferred Qualifications
- Public Sector Expertise: Prior experience delivering technical solutions for Federal or State Government agencies.
- Regulatory Compliance: Deep familiarity with government security frameworks such as FedRAMP, NIST SP 800-53, CJIS, or HIPAA.
- Technical Certifications: Active certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Data Engineer Associate, or CISSP.
