Duration: 11+ Months
Location: IA- Des Moines, Hybrid 3-4 days onsite
Overview: Every consultant belongs to a practice, an internal group of consultants and leaders with shared experience and expertise. Each of these practices aligns to one of the core services Turnberry offers to clients. As a Scrum Master, you will join Turnberry's Business Agility practice. Turnberry's Business Agility practice provides ways-of-working assessments with supporting improvement recommendations, Product Management and Agile Delivery education opportunities, team and enterprise-level Product and Agile coaching, and strategic staffing for each of the skills required to drive Agile and/or Project to Product transformation journeys.
Responsibilities:
Run the Architecture Team's Agile System (Flow + Cadence)
Facilitate the team's operating cadence: standups, planning, refinement, reviews/demos, retros, and syncs with stakeholders
Implement flow practices that work for architecture work (mix of intake, discovery, design review, enablement, and "as-needed" consults)
Manage and continuously improve the team's Kanban/Scrum hybrid approach (WIP limits, classes of service, SLA expectations)
Architecture Intake, Triage, and Prioritization
Run the architecture intake process (from epics/features/requests) with clear entry criteria
Partner with Product/Portfolio/Solution leadership to prioritize architecture work based on value, risk, dependencies, and delivery timing
Ensure architecture work is visible, sized appropriately, and sequenced to support PI outcomes and product roadmaps
Shift-Left Enablement (Make Architecture Easy to Consume)
Drive adoption of "shift-left" behaviors: early engagement, lightweight design reviews, and reusable patterns
Help architects package outcomes as consumable assets: reference architectures, golden paths, templates, checklists, guardrails, ADRs
Dependency and Stakeholder Management (Cross-ART)
Coordinate dependencies across ARTs, platform teams, security, data, and operations
Facilitate working sessions that resolve integration decisions and architecture direction quickly
Build strong partnerships with RTEs, Product Managers, System Teams, and Engineering leaders
Metrics and Transparency (Prove Value Without Vanity Metrics)
Create and maintain dashboards that show architecture throughput and impact, such as:
Lead time from intake ? decision/asset delivered
% of epics/features receiving architecture engagement
Bottleneck analysis and aging work
Rework avoided/defects reduced (where measurable)
Adoption of standards/patterns/golden paths
Prepare executive-ready summaries and highlight risks, tradeoffs, and constraints
Team Health and Continuous Improvement
Coach architects (and stakeholders) on lean-agile behaviors and pragmatic planning
Drive continuous improvement experiments and document working agreements
Protect focus time for deep architecture work while maintaining responsiveness
Qualifications:
4+ years of experience as a Scrum Master/Agile Team Coach (or equivalent)
Demonstrated experience supporting platform, architecture, engineering enablement, or enterprise enablement teams (not only product feature teams)
Strong proficiency with Kanban flow metrics and WIP management (lead time, cycle time, throughput, aging WIP)
Experience working with senior technical stakeholders and translating ambiguity into executable work
Strong facilitation skills: conflict navigation, decision-making sessions, and stakeholder alignment
Experience with agile tooling (Azure DevOps, Jira, etc.) and building operational dashboards
Preferred Qualifications:
SAFe experience in a scaled environment (ARTs, PI planning, dependencies); SAFe certs are a plus (SSM, SASM)
Background working with architecture artifacts (ADRs, reference architectures, standards, threat modeling checkpoints, NFRs)
Experience supporting governance-lite architecture processes (fast decisions, clear guardrails, minimal bureaucracy)
Familiarity with cloud-native delivery, DevSecOps, platform engineering, and event-driven/API patterns
