JOB DESCRIPTION:

SAIC is seeking a Space Systems Advanced Development Chief Engineer to join our MSEIT team in El Segundo, CA.

You will join the MILSATCOM Systems Engineering team to help shape the next generation of space communication systems supporting Air Force Military Satellite Communications. In this role, you will contribute to Systems Engineering and Integration activities within a multidisciplinary, highly collaborative environment. You will work closely with SE&I teammates, contractors, government personnel, and members of the U.S. Air Force. You may also lead or support working groups that conduct technical discussions, identify and mitigate risks and requirements gaps, prepare briefings, track and document action items, and produce meeting minutes.

The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the Air Force's Space and Missiles System Center. We support the Air Force's acquisition of state of the art Military Satellite Communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation's warfighters. We seek technical individuals who will thrive in a highly collaborative work environment of small teams, using the most modern tools and methodologies to tackle the challenges of integrating complex space and ground communications systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead SE&I Futures technical baseline and technology development for space systems command MILCOMM Program Executive Office.
  • Maintain the military satcom solutions architecture and capabilities baseline for future systems.
  • Support Analysis of Alternatives, trades, and acquisition of satellite and ground systems in support of tactical and strategic objectives of the Spaceforce Force Design.
  • Interfacing with satcom users and stakeholders assessing needs, interfaces, and capabilities and apply to requirements, simulation, and development activities.
  • Support international coalition architectures and operations development and planning.
  • Develop new processes, tools, and algorithms in support of the architecture and technology integration processes.
  • Conduct market and satellite and ground technology assessments and develop and launch projects to mature and transition capability onto programs and into operations.
  • Interface with customers, users, and stakeholders at location, conferences, and workshops.
  • Work with the nationwide network of the Futures Team SME's.
  • Face time with Los Angeles and Colorado Spaceforce customers in office exchange, meetings, tag-ups, and reviews.
  • Travel Requirements: moderate to high (may moderate through use of nationwide SME network).

Qualifications

Required:
  • An active TS/SCI/poly clearance is required for this position.
  • Bachelor of Science and twenty-five (25) years or more experience; Master of Science and twenty (20) years or more experience; 4 additional years of experience may be used in lieu of additional degrees; additional master's degrees or PhD considered a plus and may impact compensation profile.
  • Experience with space-based communications systems and/or military or commercial satellite systems.
  • Experience with technical requirements development, systems engineering, systems integration, technology development, and overseeing development contracts to develop, design, assess simulation and prototype hardware and software.
  • Must have an in-scope security background investigation (S or TS), and SCI eligible and enrolled in the Continuous Evaluation program (if applicable).
  • Must be willing to be nominated for access to Sensitive Compartment Information and Special Access Programs and willing to consent to a Polygraph examination.

Target salary range: $200,001 - $240,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
