Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer / Application SME to support and enhance a high-traffic tax reporting utility platform within a large-scale financial services environment.

The application is being actively built and runs on AWS. The ideal candidate will be highly hands-on with development while also serving as the Application SME/Owner and primary point of contact for production troubleshooting and support.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance applications using Core Java and Spring Boot.
• Design, deploy, and support applications running in AWS environments.
• Serve as the SME/Application Owner and primary POC for application issues and production troubleshooting.
• Support application deployments, monitoring, incident resolution, and production stability.
• Troubleshoot high-priority production issues and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Monitor application health and performance using Splunk, Dynatrace, and Grafana.
• Work with Kafka and NoSQL databases in a distributed application environment.
• Develop and support batch processing workflows.
• Manage application alerts, escalations, and production incidents.
• Coordinate with external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve interface/integration issues.
• Provide increased production support during periods of high application traffic, particularly during tax season.
• Collaborate with another team member to manage application development, support, and ownership.
• Participate in incident management and ensure timely resolution of application issues.
• Work with cross-functional teams and vendors to identify and resolve technical issues.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Java / Core Java.
• Strong Spring Boot development experience.
• Strong experience with AWS infrastructure and deployments.
• Experience supporting applications in production environments.
• Experience with Splunk, Dynatrace, and/or Grafana.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka.
• Experience with NoSQL databases.
• Strong troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis skills.
• Experience with batch processing.
• Experience managing alerts, escalations, and production incidents.
• Experience working with external vendors and third-party integrations.
• Ability to act as an Application SME / Technical Owner.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Senior Software Engineer who can balance new application development with production support. This person should be comfortable taking ownership of an application, troubleshooting issues end-to-end, coordinating with vendors, and serving as the technical SME for the platform.
