We're looking for a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team supporting mission-critical systems. This role is ideal for a mid- to senior-level professional who thrives in secure environments and brings broad experience across database administration, AWS, and DevOps practices.

You'll play a key role in maintaining, optimizing, and securing database systems that directly support high-impact operations across both on-premises and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise database systems (relational and/or NoSQL)
  • Support and manage databases across on-premises and cloud (AWS) environments
  • Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries and indexing
  • Manage database backups, recovery strategies, and high availability solutions
  • Deploy and manage database infrastructure in AWS environments (RDS, EC2, Aurora, etc.)
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate databases into CI/CD pipelines
  • Implement and enforce database security best practices (encryption, access control, auditing)
  • Support system migrations, upgrades, and patching activities
  • Maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures

? Required Qualifications
  • Active Security Clearance (Secret or higher)
  • 4-8+ years of database administration experience (mid to senior level)
  • Hands-on experience managing any major database platforms (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, etc.)
  • Experience working in AWS cloud environments (RDS, EC2, S3, IAM, etc.)
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices (e.g., Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git)
  • Proficiency in SQL scripting, performance tuning, and query optimization
  • Experience with backup/recovery, replication, and high availability setups
  • Solid understanding of security and compliance requirements in controlled environments

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with PostgreSQL (including Aurora PostgreSQL) and/or Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
  • Experience supporting federal or defense environments
  • Familiarity with data migration and ETL processes

Security & Compliance
  • Ensure all database systems comply with applicable security standards and policies
  • Participate in audits and maintain compliance documentation
  • Implement role-based access controls and data protection mechanisms

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.

The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $90,000.00 - $150,000.00 annually.

For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
