SAP C4 V2 Functional Lead – Utilities Contact Center

Industry: Regulated Public Utility
Program: Large-Scale Customer Information System (CIS) Transformation
Start Date: September 1, 2026
Duration: 8 months, through April 2027
Experience Level: 10–12+ years preferred; quality and relevance of experience are more important than total years

Position Overview

Our client, a large regulated public utility, is seeking an experienced SAP C4 V2 Functional Lead with deep Utilities Contact Center experience to support a major Customer Information System (CIS) transformation.

This is a senior, hands-on functional leadership role responsible for leading the customer service solution workstream across detailed design, solution build, testing, deployment, go-live, and post-production support. The ideal candidate will combine strong SAP C4 V2 and SAP C4 V1 knowledge with direct experience delivering customer service and contact center solutions in a regulated utility environment.

The successful candidate must be comfortable operating as both a strategic functional lead and a hands-on delivery leader—working directly with client stakeholders, guiding delivery teams, resolving functional and integration issues, and maintaining accountability for successful end-to-end execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the SAP C4 for Utilities customer service and contact center workstream as part of a large-scale CIS transformation.
  • Serve as the primary functional lead for customer service solution design, build, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.
  • Work directly with utility business stakeholders and client leadership to understand operational requirements and translate signed-off requirements into detailed functional designs and executable solutions.
  • Lead detailed solution design sessions, workshops, and requirements validation activities.
  • Provide hands-on leadership throughout the solution build process, ensuring configuration and development align with approved requirements and overall solution architecture.
  • Lead functional testing activities, including test planning, scenario development, defect resolution, regression testing, and business validation.
  • Coordinate and oversee integration between SAP C4 and NICE CXone, ensuring effective end-to-end contact center functionality.
  • Manage dependencies and functional touchpoints across SAP C4, the broader CIS ecosystem, contact center technologies, and downstream systems.
  • Lead deployment readiness activities, cutover planning, go-live execution, stabilization, and post-production support.
  • Identify functional risks, design gaps, integration issues, and delivery challenges early and drive them through resolution.
  • Provide clear status reporting and recommendations to client stakeholders and program leadership.
  • Manage client relationships effectively, setting expectations, facilitating decisions, and maintaining alignment throughout the engagement.
  • Lead delivery teams with a hands-on management style, providing direction while remaining actively involved in solution details and issue resolution.
  • Ensure the customer service solution supports the operational, customer experience, and regulatory requirements of a large public utility.

Required Qualifications

  • Approximately 10–12+ years of relevant experience, with emphasis placed on the depth, quality, and relevance of experience rather than years alone.
  • Strong background delivering technology solutions within regulated electric, gas, water, or multi-service utility environments.
  • Deep understanding of utility customer service and contact center operations.
  • Hands-on functional knowledge of SAP C4 V2.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP C4 V1 and the differences or evolution between versions.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering SAP C4 for Utilities solutions.
  • Experience integrating SAP C4 with NICE CXone contact center technology.
  • Proven experience leading a customer service solution workstream on a complex enterprise transformation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the full solution lifecycle, including:
    • Requirements validation and detailed design
    • Solution build and configuration
    • Functional and integration testing
    • Deployment and cutover
    • Go-live
    • Production stabilization and post-go-live support
  • Strong client management and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Experience working from signed-off business requirements and driving those requirements through detailed design, build, testing, and successful production deployment.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams, technical dependencies, delivery risks, and competing priorities.
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate effectively at both the strategic and detailed execution levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a large-scale CIS implementation or transformation for a regulated public utility.
  • Experience with complex integrations between SAP C4, CIS platforms, telephony/contact center solutions, and other customer-facing technologies.
  • Strong understanding of utility customer journeys, including account inquiries, billing questions, payments, move-in/move-out, service requests, outages, complaints, and other contact center interactions.
  • Experience working within large, multi-vendor systems integration programs.
  • Experience leading distributed or offshore delivery teams.
  • Strong background in deployment planning, cutover, hypercare, and production stabilization.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is not simply a high-level program manager. This individual should be a hands-on SAP C4 functional leader who understands regulated utility customer service operations, can engage credibly with both business and technical stakeholders, and can personally drive the solution from detailed design through successful deployment and stabilization.

The strongest candidates will have direct, recent experience delivering SAP C4 for Utilities in a regulated utility contact center environment and will be able to clearly articulate their personal ownership of solution design, build, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.

Company Info

About Diversified Technology, Inc.

 38 Year Heritage of Service

Diversified Telecommunications Inc., (DTI) was founded in 1985, as a pay phone provider.  Knowing the needs of the communities it served brought DTI early success.  Because DTI was an independent payphone company with lower overhead, it was able to offer a much larger percentage of the phones’ revenues to retailers than bigger providers, such as Illinois Bell, could offer. With the proliferation of cell phones, the pay phone business began to dwindle.  Looking ahead DTI had already begun exploring the information technology services arena and found two areas in which to expand their business.

Expanding into Network and IT Consulting

The first area of expansion was in network infrastructure.  This included network cabling, which was a logical extension of the phone business. With the growth of business networks, it was a smart move. DTI has been offering network cabling, including network design, pre-project planning, structured cabling systems and on-site technicians, since 1994.  Based on the success of the network infrastructure business, Diverse Technologies, Inc. was created in 2008 to provide network communication technicians from I.B.E.W. Local 134, project managers, project coordinators and of course account managers to offer an expanded set of Network Services to help ensure clients expectations were exceeded from beginning to end.

The second area of expansion is IT Consulting, including ERP implementations, software application design and development, computer programming, project management and supplemental staffing.  DTI saw that a project often required additional sets of hands or skill sets our client did not have on staff. As opposed to hiring additional staff, they looked to DTI to fill their needs.  The division, originally developed to support client needs for project assistance in 1996, grew into the establishment of Diversified Technology, Inc. in 2007.

Adjusting to a Changing Market

Into the 2000s, DTI grew at an incredible rate. It was recognized twice by the Inner City 100 as one of the fastest growing inner-city companies in America. DTI’s client list included some of the top organizations headquartered in Chicago, such as Amoco, Ameritech, and Quaker Oats. But a series of mergers and acquisitions, with corporate decisions now being made outside Chicago, resulted in DTI losing some of its large, long-term clients. Therefore, DTI transitioned once again, balancing its portfolio to include more clients in the government and education industries that aren’t susceptible to mergers and acquisitions by out-of-state corporations, developing strong relationships with some of the largest system integrators and software providers in the business, and providing its service offerings to organizations throughout the country.

Focusing on Specific Industries and Partners

Today, DTI has three services: IT Consulting, Advisory, and Network Services. Advisory is the newest offering, where DTI can provide advisory services for project management, quality assurance, and organizational change management that are software agnostic. While it supports many industries, DTI is focused on Energy, state and local government/education (SLED), and Financial Services. Its experience working with energy firms includes ERP systems, smart meters, and integrating systems to accommodate mergers and acquisitions. Its SLED practice supports state and local governments, including a specialization in transit authorities, along with the needs of K-12 as well as higher education. For financial services organizations, such as JP Morgan Chase, DTI provides IT Consulting and Advisory services.

DTI has built strong relationships with its clients, large system integrators such as Accenture, Deloitte, PwC, and IBM, and software providers such as Oracle, SAP and ServiceNow. DTI has realized significant growth over the last few years following this strategy.

DTI continues to innovate and adjust to the market. It provides its clients high quality services at a reasonable price by recruiting and retaining highly desirable talent, keeping its overhead costs low with a lean and agile infrastructure, and striving to exceed its clients’ expectations.
