Position Overview
We are seeking a mid-level Windows & Virtualization Infrastructure Systems Administrator to support and manage complex Intel-based computing environments, with a primary focus on Windows Server administration and hypervisor technologies (Nutanix as primary platform).
This role involves hands-on support of Windows operating systems, virtualization infrastructure, IIS web services, certificate management, STIG compliance, disaster recovery adherence, and VDI environments. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with internal IT teams to support production environments, enhance performance, and ensure security and compliance standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
Windows Server Administration
- Administer and troubleshoot all versions of Windows Server OS
- Manage and support Active Directory and Group Policy
- Perform Windows Server patching and vulnerability remediation
- Support IIS web servers and manage SSL certificate implementation and renewals
- Create and maintain secure server base images aligned with DoD STIG standards
- Support incident management, compliance initiatives, and project delivery
- Collaborate with application owners to implement backup and retention policies
- Monitor and improve system performance and operational efficiency
Virtualization & VDI Environment Support
- Support Nutanix-based hypervisor environments
- Maintain and improve VDI stability, performance, and recoverability
- Ensure virtualization environments meet security and compliance requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve virtualization efficiency and reliability
- Perform OS and hardware maintenance
Infrastructure & Security Operations
- Design, maintain, and document server configurations
- Coordinate hardware and firmware upgrades across platforms
- Apply emergency patches and hotfixes to Intel-based operating systems
- Ensure adherence to security guidelines and audit requirements
- Troubleshoot complex production and implementation issues and determine root cause
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5 10+ years of Windows Server and Virtualization experience
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
- Experience delivering complex infrastructure initiatives
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to peers and IT teams
- Experience supporting STIG compliance and disaster recovery processes
Nice to Have
- Experience with Hyper-V, XenServer, VMware ESXi (Broadcom)
- Nutanix administration experience
- Nessus vulnerability scanning
- Trend Micro antivirus administration
- Dell OpenManage
- Rubrik backup solutions
- Azure Arc configuration and management
- Citrix administration
Preferred
- Industry-recognized Systems Administrator certification (e.g., Microsoft, VMware, etc.)
