The Cloud Solutions Engineer II will support Client by modernizing, operating, and monitoring its Microsoft Azure cloud environment. The work includes transitioning workloads from a legacy Azure implementation into a standardized, secure, and governed Azure Cloud Landing Zone, while providing comprehensive Azure cloud monitoring and operational support.
The engineer will assess existing Azure resources, remediate configuration gaps, and assist with migrating subscriptions and workloads using approved Azure architecture patterns and Infrastructure as Code. The role will implement and maintain Azure monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to provide visibility into system performance, availability, security posture, and cost management.
Additional work includes proactive monitoring, incident response, root cause analysis, and coordination with Azure, DIR, and Shared Technology Services teams to ensure stable and compliant Azure operations. The engineer will develop and maintain technical documentation, dashboards, and operational runbooks to support reliable, well‑governed Azure services aligned with Client’s enterprise cloud strategy.
Minimum Yrs of Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
· 4–7 years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or related IT roles.
· Hands‑on experience supporting Microsoft Azure, including experience in Azure Government (Azure.gov) environments or other regulated cloud platforms.
· Experience implementing and supporting Azure infrastructure components such as compute, networking, storage, identity, and security services.
· Experience with Azure monitoring and logging to support performance, availability, security visibility, and incident response.
· Experience assisting with cloud migrations or modernization efforts, including moving workloads into standardized cloud environments such as an Azure Cloud Landing Zone.
· Experience using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., ARM templates, Bicep, Terraform).
· Working knowledge of cloud security best practices, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements.
· Experience supporting operational activities including monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis.
· Ability to work independently in a structured enterprise or government environment.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
· Direct experience working in Azure Government (Azure.gov) supporting state or federal workloads.
· Experience supporting Texas DIR cloud environments.
· Familiarity with DIR Shared Technology Services (STS) standards, processes, and governance.
· Experience supporting or implementing an Azure Landing Zone in a government or highly regulated environment.
· Knowledge of DIR security standards.
· Experience with hybrid cloud environments integrating on‑premises systems with Azure Government.
· Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate
