Design, build, and maintain scalable Node.js/TypeScript backend services, REST APIs, microservices, and backend orchestration layers. Develop AI-enabled backend services that integrate with LLM APIs, RAG workflows, embeddings, vector databases, and enterprise knowledge sources. Build backend systems that support intelligent search, document retrieval, summarization, recommendations, workflow automation, or agent-assist capabilities. Design and implement prompt orchestration, conversation context management, tool/function calling, and structured response handling. Integrate backend services with databases, caches, messaging systems, and cloud-native infrastructure. Implement Redis/caching strategies, rate limiting, session/context handling, retries, timeouts, and API performance optimization. Design secure APIs with proper authentication, authorization, validation, error handling, logging, and monitoring. Support asynchronous and event-driven processing using tools such as Kafka, queues, or background workers. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and production deployment processes. Monitor backend and AI system performance, including latency, errors, token usage, cost, retrieval quality, and system reliability. Troubleshoot production issues and improve the scalability, reliability, and accuracy of AI-enabled backend services. Collaborate with product, architecture, front-end, data, and platform teams to deliver secure, production-ready AI capabilities.

LLM Integration & APIs: Connecting backend systems to Large Language Model APIs, tool/function calling, and structured response handling.

RAG & Vector Search: Building Retrieval-Augmented Generation workflows, managing embeddings, and integrating vector databases and enterprise knowledge sources.

Agentic Workflows & Prompt Orchestration: Designing prompt pipelines, managing conversation context/memory, and building agent-assist capabilities.

AI Applications: Developing intelligent search, document retrieval, automated summarization, recommendation systems, and workflow automation.

AI System Observability: Monitoring token usage, API costs, latency, retrieval accuracy, and generation quality.

Core Backend & Architecture

Node.js & TypeScript: Modern, strongly-typed backend software development.

API & Service Architecture: Designing RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend orchestration layers.

Event-Driven & Asynchronous Processing: Implementing message brokers (e.g., Kafka, queues) and background worker systems.

Data Management & Caching: Database design, state management, and high-performance caching strategies using Redis.

Performance, Security & DevOps

Performance Optimization: Implementing rate limiting, retries, timeouts, session management, and latency reduction.

API Security & Governance: Designing secure authentication, authorization (RBAC), input validation, logging, and error handling.

DevOps & CI/CD: Building automated testing pipelines, CI/CD workflows, and managing production deployments.

Production Reliability & Monitoring: Troubleshooting production issues, tracking system error rates, and ensuring service reliability and scalability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Engineering Alignment: Partnering with product management, enterprise architecture, frontend, data engineering, and platform teams to deliver production-grade AI features.
