About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on senior technology leader to join our Asset Management – Investment Technology team in Boston. This is a senior role combining deep engineering craft with senior leadership accountability – you will remain hands-on in code and architecture while leading a distributed team and shaping the technology direction for our core investment platforms.
You will play a critical role in modernising and supporting investment platforms, with a focus on scalable cloud-native architecture, full stack delivery, and robust engineering practices. You will engage directly with global stakeholders across Investments, Operations, Product, and wider Technology teams to deliver solutions that support Portfolio Management and Trading. Exposure to ETFs and multi-asset platforms is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Direction
- Define and drive the technology strategy aligned with Investments business goals; identify opportunities for value creation through cloud-native architectures, data enablement, and full-stack engineering solutions.
- Lead strategic, cross-functional initiatives that drive transformation in investment technology, ensuring structured execution and measurable outcomes.
Hands-On Engineering & Architecture
- Lead and directly contribute to full stack application development using modern technologies across cloud-native and hybrid architectures.
- Design and implement scalable, secure APIs with strong monitoring and logging frameworks.
- Lead the development of rich UI components using frameworks such as React or Angular.
- Manage AWS-based infrastructure components and CI/CD pipelines (CloudFormation, Lambda, ECS, S3, RDS, etc.).
- Continuously identify and implement automation opportunities to improve team efficiency and delivery velocity.
Delivery & Production Ownership
- Own the production environment and application operations; review and approve all changes before deployment into production.
- Collaborate with business and product teams to shape requirements and translate them into technical specifications and delivery plans.
- Translate complex investment domain problems into actionable engineering solutions, working closely with business stakeholders to deliver high-impact outcomes.
Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement
- Interface with strategic vendors (e.g., BlackRock Aladdin, Snowflake) for issue resolution, feature enhancements, and to ensure robust system integration.
- Engage global stakeholders across Investments, Operations, Risk, and Technology to align on priorities and delivery.
Leadership & People
- Provide direction, mentorship, and technical leadership to a distributed team across geographies and time zones.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, engineering excellence, and ownership.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 15+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in a senior lead / hands-on leadership role.
- Strong command of full stack development: JavaScript (React/Angular), Node.js or Java/.NET/Python, and SQL.
- Hands-on experience with AWS architecture and services (Glue, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, etc.).
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
- Strong API development and integration experience.
- Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, Selenium).
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive cross-functional delivery in a matrixed, global environment.
- Demonstrated ability to remain hands-on in code and architecture while operating at a senior leadership level.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in Asset Management, Investment Banking, or Wealth Management.
- Knowledge of front-office platforms and workflows: OMS, PMS, and risk engines.
- Experience with ETF platforms and fund lifecycle processes.
- Familiarity with Snowflake, Python, and event-driven architecture.
- Exposure to regulatory reporting, ESG data pipelines, or performance attribution systems.
