About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Power BI Developer to design, build, and lead delivery of enterprise-grade analytics and reporting solutions using Microsoft Power BI and the broader Microsoft data platform. This role focuses on semantic modeling, scalable dashboard architecture, data transformation, and performance-optimized analytics solutions.
The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on Power BI expertise with data modeling and platform best practices, ensuring analytics solutions are trusted, performant, secure, and aligned with business decision needs. This role also includes mentoring developers and elevating reporting and analytics engineering standard
Key Responsibilities
Analytics Architecture & Solution Delivery
- Design and deliver enterprise Power BI reporting and dashboard solutions end-to-end.
- Translate business requirements into scalable semantic models and visual analytics designs.
- Align reporting architecture with governance, performance, and usability standards.
Data Modeling & Semantic Layer Engineering
- Build and optimize dimensional and semantic data models for analytics and self-service BI.
- Develop advanced DAX measures, calculated columns, and reusable metric frameworks.
- Implement star schemas, aggregation strategies, and model performance tuning.
Data Integration & Transformation
- Develop robust data transformation pipelines using Power Query (M) and SQL.
- Integrate Power BI with enterprise data sources across cloud and on-prem platforms.
- Ensure data quality, refresh reliability, and lineage transparency across datasets.
Power BI Platform, Governance & Performance
- Implement Power BI workspace governance, security models, and deployment pipelines.
- Optimize report and dataset performance through query tuning and model optimization.
- Enforce BI standards for naming, versioning, documentation, and reuse.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship
- Lead BI development standards and cross-team analytics delivery practices.
- Mentor developers through DAX reviews, model design guidance, and visualization best practices.
- Build reusable templates, reporting frameworks, and BI engineering playbooks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or related field required; Master's preferred.
- 8+ years of BI, data, or analytics development experience.
- 5+ years hands-on Power BI development experience in enterprise environments.
- Proven experience delivering production analytics platforms and executive reporting solutions with the following technology stack:
- Power BI Platform: Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Power BI Premium, Power BI Report Server
- Microsoft Data Stack: SQL Server, Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Dataflows, Datamarts
- Modeling & Analytics: DAX, Power Query (M), Tabular models, semantic models, star schema design
- Data Integration: T-SQL, stored procedures, views, ETL/ELT patterns
- Microsoft Ecosystem: Excel, Power Platform, SharePoint, Teams integration
- Pipelines & DevOps: Power BI deployment pipelines, Git integration, Azure DevOps
- Data Connectivity: REST APIs, OData, flat files, enterprise SaaS sources
- Governance & Security: Row-level security (RLS), object-level security (OLS), tenant/workspace governance
- Platforms & Storage: Azure Data Lake, Blob Storage, Databricks, Synapse
Certifications
- Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300)
- Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900)
- SQL or Data Analytics certification
