Summary

Job Title: Senior Database Admin (14+ years of experience)

Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid) -Local to Texas candidates Only (Within 50-mile radius)

We are currently seeking candidates who meet the following qualification

Key Responsibilities
  • Enter codes to create production databases.
  • Select and enter codes of utility programs to monitor database performance, including distribution of records and available memory.
  • Direct programmers and analysts in implementing database management system changes.
  • Review and correct database programs.
  • Provide technical support by answering user questions.
  • Confer with coworkers to determine the impact of database changes on other systems and evaluate staff costs associated with database modifications.
  • Modify database programs to improve processing performance through performance tuning.
  • Assist in the planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems.
  • Ensure conceptual and design phases of new applications are consistent with the structural parameters of the database environment.
  • Evaluate user requests for new data elements and systems, incorporate them into the shared data environment, and provide technical assistance.
  • Coordinate data usage to ensure data integrity and eliminate redundancy.
  • Load and reorganize databases as required.
  • Perform data modeling and prototyping.
  • Perform logical and physical data modeling.
  • Design relational database models and create physical data models from logical data models.
  • Perform database security recovery procedures.
  • Determine and implement database search strategies and storage requirements.
  • Maintain the data dictionary, ensuring consistent definitions and standards.
  • Monitor database performance and recommend efficiency improvements.
  • Create and maintain test database environments, including required libraries and procedures.
  • Execute database backup, retrieval, recovery, and restoration procedures following established processes.
  • Assist in implementing and enhancing database security standards.
  • Monitor agency disaster recovery procedures and systems.
  • Assist with database software installation, analysis, design, and implementation.
  • Assist with benchmarking and threshold testing of databases.
  • Establish and control database security.
  • Assist in evaluating and selecting database management software.
  • Perform advanced database administration for applications with complex data models, workflows, and reports.
  • Create and maintain logical and physical data models.
  • Support Full-stack Java applications hosted on Azure and AWS cloud platforms.
  • Work within an Agile (Scrum) software development environment.
  • Migrate data from Oracle applications to SQL schemas and load data into collections.
  • Optimize database performance during and after migration.
  • Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks.
  • Implement monitoring solutions to track database health and performance metrics.
  • Perform database tuning, indexing, customization, transformation, and data migration/conversion activities.
  • Install, troubleshoot, upgrade, and patch database systems.
  • Manage database users and permissions.
  • Ensure security of data at rest and in motion.
  • Implement and support disaster recovery solutions.
  • Configure clustering for high availability and load balancing.
  • Perform database backup, purging, and archiving.
  • Implement database policies and standards.
  • Configure data replication and backup to secondary disaster recovery sites.
  • Ensure database integrity, availability, and confidentiality for sensitive and business-critical systems.
  • Work closely with development teams to create and maintain logical and physical data models with primary focus on Oracle and Azure Microsoft SQL.
  • Convert Oracle Stored Procedures and Functions to Azure SQL.
  • Ensure user interfaces for database administration and data input, viewing, and reporting comply with EIR Accessibility standards.
  • Provide user support when EIR Accessibility issues arise.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience with database administration.
  • Experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL, or similar database platforms.
  • Experience with relational database administration such as SQL Server or Oracle.
  • Experience in database design, analysis, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with database structures, data analysis, and performance optimization.
  • Experience designing enterprise applications and services.
  • Experience creating technical and functional design documentation.
  • Experience working within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) using Agile methodologies such as Scrum.
  • Experience with multi-tier application development including SOA, Microservices, and Three-Tier Architecture.
  • Experience in computer systems analysis or computer programming.
  • Knowledge of computer programming principles, systems design, computer operations, systems, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of project control and cost estimating techniques.
  • Knowledge of computer programming languages.
  • Knowledge of data processing flowcharting techniques.
  • Knowledge of database structures, theories, and current database technologies.
  • Working knowledge of EIR Accessibility standards and assistive technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with large-volume databases, high availability, and disaster recovery infrastructure.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data into Azure SQL from multiple data sources.
  • Experience with DevOps technologies including CI/CD pipelines and build/deployment tools such as Git.
  • Experience with Java/J2EE Enterprise Development.
  • Azure certification.
  • DBA Associate certification.
