Job Title: HVAC Estimator
Job Summary
The Assistant HVAC Estimator supports the Estimating Division in preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) projects.
This role involves reviewing project specifications, analyzing blueprints, and performing accurate cost assessments for materials, equipment, labor, and subcontractors.
The position includes collaborating with vendors for pricing and ensuring estimates align with project requirements and timelines.
This role is ideal for individuals with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and foundational knowledge of HVAC systems or the construction industry.
Job Duties / Essential Functions
Estimate Preparation
Assist in analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project requirements to determine HVAC system needs.
Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for HVAC systems, including materials, labor, and subcontractor expenses.
Use estimating software and tools (Excel estimating spreadsheets) to compile accurate project estimates.
Collaboration and Coordination
Work closely with senior estimator(s) and Procon coordinator project managers to refine project estimates and budgets.
Communicate with suppliers and vendors to obtain pricing, availability, and lead times for HVAC equipment and materials.
Attend pre-estimate jobsite visits to confirm project scope.
Attend meetings with project stakeholders to discuss project scope and estimation details.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain organized records of project estimates, proposals, and revisions.
Prepare preliminary project budgets and assist in creating bid packages.
Ensure estimates comply with company standards and client requirements.
Assist in creating proposals using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Learning and Development
Stay updated on HVAC industry trends, technologies, and market pricing.
Participate in training sessions to enhance knowledge of HVAC systems and estimating techniques.
Shadow senior estimators to gain practical experience in complex project assessments.
Visit jobsites to learn about HVAC installation practices.
Skills / Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent; associate s or bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field is a plus.
Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, construction terminology, and blueprints.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams).
Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
