Department: IS Core Infrastructure
Summary:
The Lead Enterprise Infrastructure Architect is a working thought leadership role, responsible for identifying, planning, and driving enterprise-wide infrastructure (hardware and/or software) improvements. Responsible for working closely with technical and engineering teams to define and maintain best practices in system design, development, and deployment. Activities include systems architecture, strategic planning, technology roadmap design, vendor management, technology research, and more.
The Lead Architect will develop relationships with key information services and clinical/business stakeholders in addition to coordinating with IS management in the annual planning process. This includes enlisting executive support, providing budget justifications (ROI, TCO as appropriate), driving standardization of our technology stack, and leading/participating in technology oversight and governance.
Responsibilities:PLAN: Conceive, justify, and plan enterprise-wide infrastructure (hardware and/or software) improvements in partnership with systems administration, applications, and engineering teams. Utilize appropriate governance processes for discussion and approval of improvement initiatives which may impact other modules or systems. Conduct advanced research on new technologies and techniques, providing recommendations and roadmaps for implementation. Work across multiple IT domain areas to ensure alignment a cohesive approach.
DECIDE: Act as a facilitator/ advisor for major enterprise-level design decisions. Recommend appropriate technologies for the technology domain(s) within the scope of responsibility.
DELIVER: Provide superior project leadership through advanced knowledge of overall system architecture combined with deep expertise in the assigned technology domain(s). Demonstrate agility in moving between high level architectural review/design and the "roll up the sleeves" level of solution delivery. Define, publish, and promote best practices, standards and policies related to IT infrastructure. Develop and maintain current and planned architectural blueprints and roadmaps. Develop support plan with key IT stakeholders.
COLLABORATE: Work closely with IT and business stakeholders, developing strong professional relationships while carrying out the mission of aligning to and enabling the business.Work closely with engineering teams to ensure that infrastructure initiatives are successfully implemented. Mentor/develop more junior level architects.
CONSULT: Provide architecture consultation on large or highly complex initiatives so they meet business objectives and are in line with overall enterprise architecture. Review proposed designs/architectures, identifying risks and providing remediation recommendations in line with established standards and the enterprise's overall architecture.
Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.
Education or Equivalent Experience:- Bachelor's degree. (Required)
- 10+ years of Information Technology experience. (Required)
- 7+ years of enterprise architecture experience. (Required)
- Master's degree preferred.
