Role - Project Manager Lead - Data Migration & Contract Transition

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership

  • Develop and maintain the integrated project plan, including scope, milestones, tasks, dependencies, resources, and deadlines.

  • Coordinate cross-functional technical and business teams, facilitate project meetings, document decisions and action items, and hold stakeholders accountable for deliverables.

  • Track project progress, risks, issues, and dependencies; identify roadblocks and drive timely resolution.

  • Provide regular project status updates and readouts to leadership and key stakeholders.

  • Manage migration activities through planning, testing, implementation, and post-migration stabilization to ensure deadlines and acceptance criteria are met.

Data Migration & Conversion

  • Oversee the identification and inventory of products, services, assets, customer information, billing records, and other data requiring migration.

  • Coordinate analysis of legacy systems, databases, spreadsheets, and existing billing/asset information to establish source-to-target data relationships.

  • Lead coordination of data mapping, cleansing, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and exception management.

  • Oversee the identification and resolution of duplicate, missing, or inaccurate data.

  • Coordinate development and validation of migration templates, bulk-load files, and automated data loads through staging and production.

  • Ensure migrated data is complete and accurate, including product, asset, customer, service, and billing relationships.

Technical & Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with technical, database, billing, product, operations, and business teams to translate technical requirements into actionable project tasks and deliverables.

  • Apply working knowledge of relational databases, data structures, large data sets, and migration processes to effectively manage technical teams.

  • Quickly learn complex legacy systems, telecommunications products, and business processes and use that knowledge to identify risks and challenge potential issues.

  • Facilitate cross-functional problem solving and drive teams toward resolution without requiring hands-on execution of the technical work.

  • Maintain clear documentation and ensure stakeholders remain aligned throughout the migration.

Required Qualifications

  • Significant experience managing complex, cross-functional technology, data migration, system conversion, or operational projects.

  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale data migration or legacy-system conversion projects.

  • Strong understanding of data mapping, transformation, validation, cleansing, and reconciliation.

  • Working knowledge of relational databases, database structures/tables, and source-to-target data relationships.

  • Experience working with large data sets; experience managing migrations involving millions of records is highly desirable.

  • Strong project planning, organization, documentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple teams and manage dependencies without direct reporting authority.

  • Ability to understand technical requirements and data structures without needing to perform the technical work directly.

  • Highly proactive, self-directed, and comfortable taking ownership of complex projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Telecommunications, communications, networking, or related industry experience.

  • Experience with legacy communications products and services such as network circuits, Ethernet, VPN, fiber, wireless, voice, routers, switches, or other telecommunications services.

  • Experience managing billing, asset, inventory, or customer-data migrations.

  • Experience with legacy-to-modern system conversions, such as HR, ERP, billing, asset-management, or other enterprise platforms.

  • Working knowledge of SQL, data-query tools, ETL processes, or database migration tools.

  • Experience with government or State of California projects.

  • PMP or comparable project-management certification.
