About the Role:  

The Senior Data/Reporting Analyst will work closely with the client and Data Architect to assess and modernize the existing Power BI reporting landscape. The role will focus on analyzing reports and embedded business logic, supporting report rationalization, identifying reusable data elements, and helping transition reporting toward a common semantic/data layer. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, analytical, and comfortable working directly with business and technical stakeholders to simplify reporting and improve consistency, maintainability, and scalability.

Technical Competencies: 

1.      Advanced Power BI expertise including Power Query (M), DAX, semantic modeling, and performance optimization.

2.      Strong SQL skills for analyzing, transforming, reconciling, and validating data across multiple sources.

3.      Ability to reverse-engineer existing Power BI reports, including embedded business logic, transformations, calculations, data sources, and dependencies.

4.      Strong understanding of semantic/data models, dimensional modeling, and reusable data structures to reduce report-level logic.

5.      Working experience with Databricks / Spark SQL or equivalent cloud data platforms and curated analytical datasets.

1.      Self-driven and hands-on, capable of independently owning assigned reporting and analysis activities.

2.      Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, particularly in complex and poorly documented reporting environments.

3.      Strong client-facing communication skills, with the ability to work directly with business and technical stakeholders.

4.      Comfortable working through ambiguity, asking the right questions, and proactively identifying dependencies and risks.

5.      Collaborative and pragmatic, working closely with the Data Architect and client teams while balancing immediate reporting needs with longer-term modernization objectives.

Required Qualifications: 

1.      5–8+ years of experience in BI, data analytics, analytics engineering, or senior reporting/data analyst roles.

2.      Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, DAX, Power Query, and SQL in enterprise reporting environments.

3.      Proven experience analyzing and reverse-engineering existing reports to identify embedded business/data logic and dependencies.

4.      Experience with report rationalization/modernization and semantic or shared data models, including retain, retire, quick-fix, and rebuild assessments.

5.      Experience with Databricks or equivalent cloud data platforms; Python and Azure DevOps/GitHub experience preferred.
