The Sr. Materials Engineer analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials, and their related fabrication and application processes, to optimize materials for use in engineering design and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems. This position will be supporting Materials and Process Engineering (M&PE) Team, working and leading in Materials Design Processes like Materials and Process (M&P) Matrix, MP&E Standard Works, etc. You will also be involved in some Global Chemical Substances efforts where regulations knowledge and analyses would be required making the resource involved but not limited to Customer Request activities, Materials BOM Decomposition etc.
This position will be part of the growth in materials expertise needs while supporting the Rockford, IL and Windsor Locks, CT material engineering teams. The position's main scope will be working with Military/ITAR/Unclassified Non-Exportable parts and assemblies.
The candidate would perform material analyses that include, but are not limited to, analysis of components, parts and materials decompositions, systems and subsystems analyses, data management that could trigger to some tool development, etc., requirement / specifications definition.
You will apply principles of chemistry, physics, mechanics, and materials behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic, and processing specifications etc., establishing standards supporting several teams across the globe.
This position will be at our
Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment.
Relocation is not offered. This role is categorized as
hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.
What You Will Do:- Working and leading on Materials Design Process like M&P Matrix, Standard Works, some tool development , etc.
- Supporting and depending on the needs leading and performing on material analyses processes that include, but are not limited to:
- Analysis of components, parts, materials and processes specs.
- Systems and subsystems analyses.
- Data management, materials and processes standard works, requirement / specifications definition.
- Work with Military/ITAR/Unclassified Non-Exportable parts and assemblies.
- Support the Growth and Development of capabilities / knowledge of the Materials Engineering Team.

Qualifications You Must Have:- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- Experience working with Engineering manufacturing processes, materials, or environmental regulations
- Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
Qualifications We Prefer:- Materials, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering Degree
- An Advanced Degree in the related field
- Experience working manufacturing process, materials, regulations
- Experience working in the aerospace industry
- Experience in Siemens NX, Visio, Solidworks
- Experience interacting with Mechanical/Electrical Computer Aided Design Resources (MCAD and ECAD)
- Experience working with Teamcenter and/or SAP
- Knowledge and Experience working Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Drawings, Modeling.

- Programming knowledge on Python, or MATLAB, Power Automate, Power BI
- Knowledge in metals, structures, polymers and composites and environmental / chemical regulations
