Job Title: Business Analyst – Pharma R&D Imaging (DICOM)

Location: San Francisco, CA (3 days onsite)
Job Type: Contract


Role Overview:

We are looking for a Business Analyst with strong experience in Pharma R&D imaging systems, including radiology (DICOM) and digital pathology (non-DICOM) platforms.

The role focuses on requirements analysis, workflow definition, and validation documentation for image viewing, annotation, and ML-enabled imaging solutions used in regulated clinical and research environments.

The Business Analyst will act as a bridge between R&D scientists, data scientists, ML validation teams, quality, and IT, ensuring alignment of business, clinical, and regulatory requirements.

Note: Experience with DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) is mandatory.


Key Responsibilities:

Imaging Platform & Requirements Management

  • Lead business and functional requirements gathering for radiology and digital pathology platforms.
  • Engage with R&D scientists, clinical teams, imaging SMEs, and CROs to understand workflows.
  • Define end-to-end requirements for:
    • Image ingestion
    • Data quality checks
    • Metadata harmonization
    • Image viewing & annotation
    • Downstream analytics

Workflow & Documentation

  • Document as-is / to-be workflows, use cases, and functional specifications.
  • Define non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, usability, compliance).
  • Ensure traceability of requirements across delivery and validation lifecycle.

ML & Regulatory Alignment

  • Collaborate with Data Scientists and ML Validation teams to define requirements for ML-based imaging solutions.
  • Support documentation for ML models used in radiology and pathology workflows.
  • Ensure alignment with Google Cloud Platform, FDA, and internal quality standards (no direct model testing required).

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a liaison between business, clinical, and technical teams.
  • Manage requirement changes and ensure clear communication across stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong experience as a Business Analyst in Pharma / Life Sciences domain.
  • Hands-on experience with DICOM (mandatory).
  • Experience with radiology imaging systems and/or digital pathology platforms.
  • Experience in requirements gathering, workflow analysis, and documentation.
  • Exposure to ML/AI-driven imaging solutions in healthcare or research.
  • Strong understanding of regulated environments (Google Cloud Platform, FDA).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with Pharma companies or CROs.
  • Knowledge of clinical trials and R&D data platforms.
  • Familiarity with image annotation tools and imaging workflows.
