Job Overview: As a Systems Engineer for Calibration, you will work with camera and display calibration equipment, test and characterize it, as well as define the calibration procedure. You will collaborate closely with teams developing novel sensors, silicon, and integrated products to ensure successful calibration and establish clear interfaces and quality gates. This role involves troubleshooting system-wide calibration issues spanning mechanical, electrical, optical, and software failures. You will also write software to facilitate calibration and testing workflows, process relevant data, and partner with manufacturing teams to deploy calibration functionality in the factory.
Responsibilities: - Set up and maintain data collection software and hardware, including OS/firmware updates and connection to sensor components.
- Perform basic software debugging (primarily in C++), analyze errors, and communicate findings with Research Engineers and Scientists.
- Conduct hardware bring-up and verify functionalities of consumer devices.
- Design and execute experiments to validate product quality and investigate hardware/software issues.
- Design and commission automation procedures for robotics experiments.
- Perform device calibration using proprietary equipment.
- Commission and operate complex measurement and test equipment.
- Document various processes and techniques with assistance from the core team.
Qualifications: - BSc/MSc/PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, Optical Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven track record of software development following software engineering best practices (C++ or Python).
- Hardware Engineering experience or educational background in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Systems, or Optical Engineering.
- Experience in system-level troubleshooting, including mechanical, electrical, optical, firmware, OS, and software failures.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in applied research and/or product development involving joint hardware/software design, development, and integration.
- Experience in designing and operating robotic systems.
- Knowledge of optics, including imaging, illumination, radiometry and photometry, physical and geometric optics, statistics, and polarization.
- Experience in statistical methods for data analytics.
- Experience as a manufacturing engineer.
- Conversational proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin).
