Summary

Engineering Manager (Manufacturing)

📍 Durham, CT | Leadership + Hands-On Impact

Step into a role where you don’t just manage engineering—you drive production performance, lead real change, and build a high-impact team.

We’re looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager who thrives on the plant floor, leads from the front, and turns ideas into measurable results across manufacturing, automation, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Own

Lead & Develop a High-Performing Team

  • Coach and grow a team of engineers with clear expectations and accountability

  • Build a culture of ownership, problem-solving, and continuous improvement

  • Partner closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Safety

Drive Plant Performance

  • Be a visible leader on the floor—troubleshooting real-time production challenges

  • Improve throughput, reduce scrap, and optimize labor and processes

  • Lead root cause analysis and implement lasting corrective actions

Own Engineering Strategy & Execution

  • Oversee stamping, welding, fabrication, finishing, and automation systems

  • Lead capital projects from concept through ROI (equipment, robotics, CNC, etc.)

  • Manage RFQs, vendor selection, and implementation

Champion Continuous Improvement

  • Lead Lean initiatives, Kaizen events, and 7S practices

  • Drive cost reduction and operational efficiency across the plant

  • Use data and metrics to guide decisions and measure success

Execute with Discipline (EOS Environment)

  • Own quarterly priorities (“Rocks”) and drive them to completion

  • Lead through metrics, scorecards, and structured problem-solving (IDS)

  • Align engineering efforts with company-wide goals

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or similar)

  • 5–10+ years in manufacturing engineering (metal fabrication, stamping, welding strongly preferred)

  • Proven leadership experience (team development + accountability)

  • Strong background in automation, robotics, and process optimization

  • Ability to lead on the floor and think strategically in the office

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing (Six Sigma Black Belt a plus)

  • EOS or similar performance-driven environment experience is a bonus

Why This Role Stands Out

  • High visibility + real impact — your work directly drives production and profitability

  • Balanced role — leadership + hands-on engineering (not stuck behind a desk)

  • Growth-focused environment — continuous improvement is core to how we operate

  • Strong operational partnership — you won’t be siloed from the business

Our Core Values

We’re building a team that:

  • Is eager to learn

  • Delivers above and beyond

  • Wins as a team

  • Focuses on solutions

  • Embraces change

  • Gets it. Wants it. Has the capacity to do it.

Work Environment

  • Split between office and manufacturing floor

  • Fast-paced, results-driven production environment

  • Regular exposure to equipment, noise, and hands-on operations

Apply if you want to lead from the front, solve real problems, and build something better every day.
