Role Overview: SAP Application Architect

The primary mission of this role is to design end-to-end SAP solutions that prioritize Clean Core principles, ensuring long-term maintainability and reduced technical debt.

Core Responsibilities

·       Architecture Strategy: Define end-to-end SAP application architecture and reference designs (Application, Integration, Data, and Security).

·       Clean Core Governance: Enforce "Clean Core" by strictly defining boundaries between SAP Standard, In-App, and Side-by-Side extensions.

·       Design Authority: Lead Architecture Review Boards (ARB) to approve designs, reduce custom code, and minimize total cost of ownership (TCO).

·       Operational Standards: Set benchmarks for monitoring, logging, and observability to ensure system reliability.

Technical Must-Haves

·       SAP Ecosystem: Expert-level knowledge of SAP BTP and SAP S/4HANA.

·       Extensibility: Deep expertise in Clean Core-aligned design patterns and extensibility frameworks.

·       Legacy Modernization: Experience assessing and retiring custom code or technical debt.

·       Operations: Familiarity with application performance monitoring and upgradeability within SAP landscapes.

Core Responsibility

Architect and manage the SAP Data Foundation to enable AI, analytics, and governance while minimizing data duplication and protecting core system performance.

Must-Have Technical Requirements

·       SAP Toolset: Hands-on expertise in SAP Datasphere, Business Data Cloud, MDG, and BW.

·       Data Modeling: Advanced skills in defining common data models, metadata management, and lineage.

·       Integration: Proven experience bridging SAP data with non-SAP analytics/reporting platforms.

·       Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of SAP master and transactional data domains.

·       Governance: Expertise in establishing data quality, ownership, and regulatory compliance standards.

Must-Have Technical Skills

·       SAP Integration Suite: Expert-level mastery of API Management and Cloud Integration.

·       Modern Patterns: Proven experience with Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) and asynchronous messaging.

·       Hybrid Landscapes: Deep knowledge of connecting SAP with non-SAP/3rd-party ecosystems.

·       Architecture Strategy: Ability to guide teams on choosing the right method (API vs. Event vs. IDoc vs. Batch) for specific business needs.

·       Clean Core: Familiarity with extension and integration approaches that minimize technical debt.

Key Deliverables

·       Reference Architectures: Create the "blueprints" for all new digital solutions.
