Job Description: Credentialing Coordinator
Job Summary
The Credentialing Coordinator is responsible for managing the full credentialing lifecycle for physicians and allied health professionals. This includes processing initial appointments, reappointments, privileging, primary source verification, and maintaining accurate credential files while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the credentialing and recredentialing process for medical and allied health providers.
- Perform primary source verification of licenses, certifications, education, training, work history, and other required credentials.
- Process provider appointments, reappointments, and clinical privileging requests in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain complete, organized, and confidential credential files.
- Support provider onboarding activities, including system access, orientation, required training, and identification badge coordination.
- Maintain and update the credentialing database with accurate provider information.
- Ensure compliance with medical staff bylaws, organizational policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate with providers, department leaders, and internal teams to resolve credentialing issues and obtain required documentation.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all provider and organizational information.
- Perform additional administrative and credentialing-related duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience in medical staff services, credentialing, healthcare administration, or a related healthcare setting preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of credentialing, privileging, and provider enrollment processes.
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and credentialing/database management systems.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- High level of professionalism and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
- Day Shift, 5 x 8s, M - F, 8am to 4:30pm. 2 years of credential coordinator experience required. Must have CPCS or CPMSM certifications. Onsite only.
