Job Title: Alation Data Governance Consultant

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Alation Data Governance Consultant to design, implement, and optimize enterprise data governance frameworks using the Alation Data Catalog platform. The ideal candidate will drive metadata management, data stewardship, data quality governance, and business glossary initiatives to enhance data trust, compliance, and business value across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead implementation and configuration of Alation Data Catalog for enterprise-wide data governance.

• Design and implement data governance frameworks, including policies, standards, and operating models.

• Develop and manage business glossary, data dictionary, and metadata management processes.

• Configure and manage:

  • Data lineage

  • Data stewardship workflows

  • Data quality rules

  • Data domain structures

  • Certifications and trust flags

• Integrate Alation with:

  • Data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, etc.)

  • BI tools (Tableau, Power BI)

  • ETL tools (Informatica, DBT, etc.)

• Enable automated metadata ingestion and lineage extraction.

• Partner with business stakeholders to define critical data elements (CDEs).

• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (GDPR, CCPA, SOX).

• Conduct training and adoption workshops to increase user engagement.

• Support data governance council meetings and governance maturity roadmap.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3 8+ years of experience in Data Governance / Metadata Management

• Hands-on experience with Alation implementation and administration

• Strong understanding of:

  • Data governance frameworks

  • Data quality management

  • Metadata lifecycle management

  • Data stewardship models

• Experience with SQL and relational databases

• Knowledge of data warehouse and cloud platforms (Snowflake, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)

• Experience integrating governance tools with BI and ETL ecosystems

• Strong stakeholder communication and documentation skills
