Job Description
We are seeking a Database Site Reliability Engineer (Database Operations) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in enterprise database administration across Sybase ASE and Oracle RAC, with automation using Python, Shell, and Ansible and a proven ability to ensure availability, performance, recoverability, and security of mission-critical database platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain enterprise database platforms.
- Ensure availability, performance, recoverability, and security of production database environments.
- Monitor database platforms and infrastructure, respond to incidents, and resolve service degradations.
- Lead troubleshooting across database, OS, storage, replication, and application connectivity.
- Execute failovers, disaster recovery testing, and recovery procedures.
- Partner with application teams for database guidance and operational support.
- Deploy, maintain, and optimize database infrastructure across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
- Implement scalable, resilient database solutions and recommend improvements to architecture, monitoring, and automation.
- Support capacity planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
- Develop automation with Python, Shell, Ansible, or similar to reduce manual work.
- Improve monitoring, alerting, reporting, and operational workflows.
- Analyze and resolve database performance issues and infrastructure-related incidents.
- Participate in root cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate operational documentation, standards, and procedures. Present metrics and reliability reporting.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong experience administering Sybase ASE and Oracle RAC in enterprise production environments.
- Hands-on with installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Experience with replication technologies such as SAP Replication Server, Data Guard, and HVR (preferred).
- Proficiency in Linux administration and shell environments.
- Automation and scripting with Python, Ansible, and Shell scripting.
- Understanding of storage, networking, operating systems, and infrastructure services; familiarity with Veritas Cluster Server, ASM, LVM, and SAN technologies.
- Familiarity with Jira, ServiceNow, and Confluence.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with additional databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
- Experience in performance and incident management within large-scale, mission-critical systems.
