Mid-level Cyber Security Assessor
Department: Airport Cyber Security
Location: Customer/Government Site locations (Chicago Airports - Midway and O’Hare), IL, 60605
Work model: 100% On-Site
Duration: Contract (2 months, with possibility of extension)
Work Shift: A typical shift is 20:00 to 04:00 (night shift) / 8pm – 4am
Work Schedule: 9/80 Schedule (Week 1 - 44 hours, Week 2 - 36 hours, 80+ hours in 2 week period billed as OT)

Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Assessor (Mid-level Security Control Assessor) to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of Security Control Assessments (SCAs) across highly sensitive airport environments in Chicago. This role is essential to maintaining the continuous operational security posture of mission-critical systems and requires an individual who can quickly hit the ground running and deliver customer needs within a short transition time. The Assessor will be responsible for analyzing, evaluating, assessing, securing, and reporting on the secured environment and related documents. You will coordinate with government stakeholders and other team members, providing expert guidance and strong recommendations to ensure secure operations.

Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of related experience or Master’s degree with at least 6 years of related experience.

Job Description

The Assessor will be responsible for analyzing, evaluating, assessing, securing, and reporting on the secured environment and related documents. You will coordinate with government stakeholders and other team members, providing expert guidance and strong recommendations to ensure secure operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct Security Control Assessments (SCAs) in accordance with the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and CNSS policies.
- Provide validation, analysis, and documentation of assessments for Chicago Airport systems.
- Develop and maintain formal NSS assessment and compliance Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Evaluate and update cybersecurity risk indicators, including risks from emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
- Deliver risk recommendations and track remediation through Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms).
- Author white papers and reports to identify trends, adversary activity, and systemic risks impacting the airport.
- Support NSCD compliance engagements, engineering review boards, and C-SCRM efforts.
- Document lessons learned and provide training and guidance to Chicago Airport stakeholders.
- Be responsible for the function of the role and reporting out on team progress.
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of related experience or Master’s degree with at least 6 years of related experience.
- Strong knowledge of IA policies, CNSS guidance, NIST RMF, and FISMA standards.
- Demonstrated experience with audits, compliance, and IT security review processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to brief senior leadership.
- Prior IT security or audit experience.
- Experience supporting high-security national mission environments.
- Familiarity with FIPS-140-2 and other federal compliance frameworks.
