- 4–12 years hands-on metrology / dimensional inspection experience
- Minimum 2 years in regulated industry (medical device preferred)
- 2+ years CMM programming and execution (PC-DMIS)
- 2+ years vision system programming (OGP SmartScope)
- Associate degree in STEM; equivalent lab experience acceptable ; or
- Bachelor's in engineering technology or mechanical engineering
Ability to understand medium to complex engineering drawings with GD&T
CMM programming, execution, and analysis using PC-DMIS
OGP SmartScope programming (Zip 250, Quest 600)
Keyence systems: VR-5000, VK-X1000, VHX profilometers
Structured light / white light scanning (GOM ATOS or equivalent)
Advanced GD&T interpretation per ASME Y14.5
Optical comparators, digital microscopes, surface roughness measurement
Hand tools: micrometers, calipers, gage pins, height stands
3D model generation for CAD overlay and fixturing
Gage R&R, MSA, process capability analysis
ISO 13485, FDA QSR, cGMP documentation practices
Digital metrology software (Geomagic, PolyWorks, VG Studio) preferred
Strong Excel, Word, and trigonometry-based calculation skills
MS Word and Excel proficiency
Roles & Responsibilities
Execute contact and non-contact inspections on medical devices.
Write and debug advanced CMM and SmartScope programs.
Translate engineer test requests into measurement technique solutions.
Vet and validate drawings; advise engineers on GD&T.
Generate 3D scan data for CAD overlay and analysis.
Record, report, and review measurement data accurately.
Develop and revise inspection procedures with project engineers.
Support supplier component validation and lifecycle investigations.
Own lab equipment calibration, maintenance, and uptime.
Train and mentor junior metrology technicians.
Schedule work and prioritize against project deadlines.
Occasionally handle biohazardous materials in accordance with lab protocols.
Support other engineering labs as needed.
Salary Range: $80,000-$90,000 a year
