Description:

We are looking for a SR payroll Peoplesoft Developer. They provide little training and expect this person to hit the ground running.

In PeopleSoft, FICA refers to the Federal Insurance Contributions Act taxes (Social Security and Medicare). Managed primarily within the Payroll for North America module, the system uses specific FICA Status codes to correctly calculate employee and employer taxes.

Please only submit candidates with heavy FICA experience within the Peoplesoft PAYROLL module

  • Technical and Functional side of their department
  • This team is more technical doing all the development work.
  • Most of teams are remote, but the org is based in Oakland.
  • Majority of the team has 15-20 years' experience someone who can get started immediately, hit the ground running
  • 8 years+ is ok payroll, development in PeopleSoft is a MUST. Need to know how to customize and enhance
  • Version 9.2 PeopleSoft
  • Certifications: none required just a bonus
  • Industry background: Higher education nice to have
  • Required: Large scale implementation experience. Complex environment. They process payroll for 250-300K employees
  • Must work under tight deadlines and must be flexible lots of different pay structures and schedules
  • Working with BSAs, functional supervisors and functional requirements to translate to technical requirements so comm must be 10/10

LOCATION DETAILS:

Primarily Remote 100% remote anywhere in the US. Must work PST time

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  1. Participate in development activities for UCPath, the PeopleSoft HCM ERP system, including, but not limited to, the areas of Payroll, Time and Labor and Absence Management.
  2. Best practices and development of defect-free enhancements for the system.
  3. Collaborate with core development team members, subject matter experts, and campus project teams as necessary.
  4. Work closely with the University business and/or technical counterparts to deliver enhancements that are compliant with industry and application best practices.
  5. Prepares and approves or obtains approval for system and programming documentation. Initiates and oversees changes in development, maintenance and system standards. Sets the technical requirements for complex software specifications.
  6. Applies advanced software concepts to plan, design, develop, modify, debug, deploy and evaluate highly complex software for functional areas.
  7. Analyzes existing highly complex software or works to formulate logic and devises algorithms for new highly complex software systems.
  8. Performs highly complex data analysis and tests/debugs highly complex software, working directly with management.
  9. Initiates, analyzes, designs and applies highly complex data sources. Applies and enforces complex programming security practices.
  10. Provide advanced production support services as required.
  11. Participate in support rotations and provide on-call support services as needed.
  12. Tasks include, but are not limited to, reviewing processes, analyzing and fixing system data, working with customers directly to resolve issues, and designing new solutions to resolve system defects.
  13. Perform analysis to identify and resolve recurring issues.
  14. Problem solving; tackle challenging issues/bugs. Assess and triage issues.
  15. Escalate issues to management as appropriate.
  16. Advanced knowledge of PeopleSoft development tools, languages, and integration technologies BI Publisher Oracle databases, SQL, and PL/SQL
  17. Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner.
  18. Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent / related functions.
  19. Experience in data integration and the specification of data services.
  20. Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
  21. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  22. At least 7 years' experience in PeopleSoft HCM 9.x including extensive work experience on at least 2 large-scale system implementation project involving large numbers of users and multiple locations.

Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge/Skills:

  1. Advanced experience designing and developing solutions for PeopleSoft HCM applications Payroll for North America, Time and Labor and Absence Management. including deep experience and understanding of the PeopleSoft HCM data model.
  2. Strong Application Engine and SQL skills.
  3. Hands on experience with some or all of the following - Fluid technology, Tile, Related content, Event mapping and page field configurator
  4. Demonstrated ability to understand functional needs and how systems can support those needs.
  5. Demonstrated ability to develop conversion and system implementation plans.
  6. Proven Experience authoring technical design specifications and test plans.
  7. Demonstrated effective interpersonal communication skills.
  8. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
  9. Strong collaboration, analytical, and teamwork skills. Strong, demonstrated project leadership and software management skills.
  10. Experience with configuration strategy preparation, object migration with STAT/PHIRE, procedures & practices, determining automated and manual methods etc.
