2-3 times per monthWe are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to join our team in a hybrid capacity. Candidates must reside in
Wisconsin or Illinois and be able to be onsite several times per month. This role is open due to backfill needs. The environment recently transitioned from
Cisco to Fortinet, so
Fortinet experience is strongly preferred. Experience in
Routing/Switching, monitoring, break/fix support, and
Aruba Wireless is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities- Design, implement, and support secure, scalable network solutions across on-prem and cloud environments, with a primary focus on Fortinet next-generation firewalls and Aruba Wireless.
- Provide expertise in Cisco VoIP (SIP), data center switching, and load balancing to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
- Utilize modern monitoring tools such as PRTG, FortiAnalyzer, and Aruba Central to track performance and proactively address issues.
- Apply strong knowledge of regulatory standards (PCI, HIPAA, NIST) to ensure proper network hardening and ongoing compliance.
- Support hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure) and maintain advanced skills in:
- Switching: Capacity Planning, STP, LACP, VLANs
- Routing: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP
- WAN: MPLS, VPLS, VPN, SD-WAN
- Security: Fortinet Firewalls, IPS/IDS, Zero Trust Tools
- Perform in-depth root-cause analysis and resolve complex technical issues in high-pressure situations.
- Work independently while collaborating effectively across technical and non-technical teams; produce clear documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in occasional off-hours maintenance windows and critical incident response.
- Support and enhance SD-WAN environments; familiarity with emerging technologies such as SASE, Wi-Fi 6/6E, Zero Trust, or automation frameworks (Ansible, Terraform, Python) is a plus.
- Serve as a Tier 2/3 escalation point for advanced troubleshooting and incident response.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support after-hours incidents and planned maintenance.
- Collaborate with vendors, service providers, and internal teams to ensure seamless operations and timely issue resolution.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
