Job Title: Database Administrator (DBA)
Reports To: Data Architecture Lead
Location: Remote
Rate: $50/Hr W2
Job Summary
The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of the organization’s databases. This role involves planning and development of the database, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users. The DBA ensures that data remains consistent across the database, is clearly defined, and is accessible to users in a secure manner.
Key Responsibilities
•
Install, configure, and maintain database systems (e.g., Oracle).
•
Monitor database performance and implement changes to improve efficiency.
•
Ensure data security, integrity, and backup/recovery procedures.
•
Design and implement database schemas, tables, indexes, and views.
•
Collaborate with developers and analysts to optimize queries and data models.
•
Perform regular audits and updates to ensure compliance with data governance policies.
•
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues and outages.
•
Automate routine tasks using scripts and tools.
•
Maintain documentation related to database configurations and procedures.
Qualifications
Education:
•
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Experience:
•
5+ years of experience as a DBA or in a similar role.
•
Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
•
Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS).
Skills:
•
Proficiency in SQL and database management tools.
•
Strong understanding of data modeling and normalization.
•
Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies.
•
Experience with DB monitoring and management tools (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL Developer, TOAD).
•
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
•
Experience with Oracle databases.
•
Familiarity with Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS).
Working Conditions
•
Supports Eastern Time (ET) zone office hours .
•
Participates in DBA on-call support weekly rotations.
•
Works remotely using Ivanti VPN client.
