The Mobility & Endpoint Architect – Asset Management & Operations is responsible for defining and evolving the architecture for mobility, endpoint, and field-technology capabilities that support railroad asset management, maintenance, inspection, engineering, and operations.

This role will establish the target-state architecture, standards, reference patterns, and technology roadmap for mobile and endpoint solutions used by field employees, maintainers, inspectors, engineering personnel, station and facility staff, and operational teams.

The architect will work closely with Engineering, Mechanical, Transportation, Facilities, Operations, Cybersecurity, Network, Identity, Enterprise Architecture, and Digital Technology teams to ensure mobility solutions are secure, resilient, interoperable, supportable, and aligned with business and operational priorities.

Responsibilities

•          Define target-state architecture and roadmap for mobility, endpoint, and field-technology capabilities supporting Asset Management and Operations.

•          Develop reusable architecture standards and patterns for rugged, shared, corporate, kiosk, and specialized operational devices.

•          Design mobility solutions that support maintenance, inspection, work execution, asset condition, engineering, and field operations.

•          Establish integration patterns between mobile solutions and EAM, ERP, GIS, document management, identity, ITSM, and operational systems.

•          Define secure architecture for UEM/MDM, device compliance, application management, identity, Zero Trust, and endpoint protection.

•          Design connectivity and resilience patterns for Wi-Fi, cellular, private LTE/5G, VPN/ZTNA, and intermittently connected environments.

•          Establish offline-first, synchronization, and field-data capture patterns for operational use cases.

•          Rationalize fragmented mobility platforms, devices, and applications and identify modernization opportunities.

•          Provide architecture governance, solution reviews, technology evaluations, and guidance across major mobility initiatives.

•          Partner with business, engineering, security, network, and operations teams to ensure mobility solutions improve field productivity, reliability, and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications

•          8+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, mobility, endpoint management, field technology, or related domains.

•          3+ years of architecture or senior solution-design experience in a large, complex enterprise.

•          Strong experience with enterprise mobility, UEM/MDM, and endpoint-management platforms such as Microsoft Intune, Workspace ONE, Jamf, or Ivanti.

•          Experience supporting field, maintenance, asset-management, engineering, or operational workforce solutions.

•          Strong knowledge of mobile integration with EAM, ERP, GIS, identity, ITSM, and enterprise application platforms.

•          Understanding of iOS, Android, Windows, rugged devices, shared-device models, and specialized operational endpoints.

•          Strong knowledge of identity, Conditional Access, Zero Trust, endpoint security, PKI, and device compliance.

•          Experience with APIs, event-driven integration, offline synchronization, and resilient mobile application patterns.

•          Knowledge of Wi-Fi, cellular, private LTE/5G, VPN/ZTNA, and field connectivity architectures.

•          Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills with the ability to translate operational needs into scalable architecture decisions.
