Location: Remote EST
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead AI Engineer to lead the technical design and development of enterprise AI solutions. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on architecture, solution design, development, and implementation. This position does not have direct people-management responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design and architecture of AI-enabled applications and solutions.
- Remain hands-on with application development, prototyping, integration, and implementation.
- Design and develop AI solutions leveraging OpenAI technologies, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Agentic AI.
- Design and implement solutions using modern AI frameworks and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- Establish scalable architecture and design patterns for enterprise AI applications.
- Develop backend services and integrations using Python.
- Develop modern user-facing applications and interfaces using React.
- Design and deploy cloud-native applications within Microsoft Azure environments.
- Work with Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes for containerized application deployment and orchestration.
- Incorporate AI governance, security, guardrails, responsible AI practices, and appropriate controls into solution designs.
- Provide technical leadership and design direction to development teams without direct people-management responsibilities.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies, frameworks, models, and development approaches.
- Partner with engineering, architecture, product, security, and business teams to translate requirements into scalable AI solutions.
- Participate directly in coding, design reviews, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of overall software development experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on Python development experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on React development experience.
- 2+ years of hands-on AI development experience.
- Recent hands-on development experience. Candidates should currently be actively designing and developing solutions.
- Recent experience leading technical architecture and solution design.
- Hands-on experience with OpenAI technologies and Large Language Models.
- Experience implementing RAG solutions.
- Experience with Agentic AI and AI agent frameworks.
- Experience working with Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- Experience with AI frameworks and emerging AI development technologies.
- Experience implementing AI governance, guardrails, security controls, and responsible AI practices.
- Experience developing and deploying applications in Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of modern software architecture, APIs, integrations, cloud-native development, and enterprise application design.
