Position Overview
We are seeking a Ab Initio ETL Developer to join our data engineering team in Woodlawn, MD. This role requires extensive experience designing, developing, testing, and optimizing complex ETL solutions using the Ab Initio tool suite. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-performance data integration solutions.
The Ab Initio ETL Developer will be responsible for taking projects through the full lifecycle, from requirements analysis and solution design through development, testing, deployment, migration, and performance optimization.
This role is expected to be onsite 5 days a week.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, testing, and implementation of complex ETL graphs and applications using the Ab Initio tool suite.
- Design and develop enterprise-complexity ETL solutions using Ab Initio products, including GDE, Co-Operating System, Express>IT, Data Quality Environment (DQE), Continuous Flows, and Amazon S3 utilities.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams, developers, and stakeholders.
- Lead the full Ab Initio development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, implementation, code migration, testing, deployment, and optimization.
- Design ETL frameworks supporting audit, data reconciliation, batch interfaces, and real-time interfaces.
- Develop ETL jobs for automation and monitoring while optimizing job performance for large-scale data processing.
- Develop and maintain ETL solutions integrating relational databases and multiple data sources.
- Work extensively with SQL, data mapping, and relational databases, including DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Greenplum.
- Automate the loading of data from multiple sources into BI/MI systems.
- Analyze and develop optimized code to maintain high performance when processing large volumes of data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver effective data integration and search-related solutions.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
- Conduct knowledge-transfer sessions and provide guidance and support to junior and mid-level developers.
- Brief stakeholders using written and oral communication appropriate to the technical level of the audience.
- Ensure compliance with SSA security, privacy, and data management policies.
- Assist with architectural planning, information solutions, and roadmaps that support technical and architectural recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong experience designing, building, and testing ETL graphs and applications using Ab Initio.
- Experience working with the Ab Initio tool suite and Unix/Linux environments.
- Experience identifying requirements, researching options, designing solutions, and implementing solutions at a leadership level.
- Strong experience scripting in a Linux environment to automate ETL solutions and data migration jobs.
- Strong knowledge of ETL lifecycle analysis, design, implementation, and code migration.
- Experience with data warehousing concepts and designs, including star and snowflake schemas.
- Strong SQL experience and knowledge of relational database integration.
- Experience with DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and/or Greenplum.
- Experience developing solutions for large-volume data processing and performance optimization.
- Experience applying quality techniques and practices, including automated unit testing, Test Driven Design/Development, performance analysis, and continuous integration.
- Experience providing technical leadership and guidance to project teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to independently research technical problems and develop effective solutions.
- Prior experience working in a federal agency or public-sector environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently complete production-like tasks accurately and on time

- Experience with modern development software, tools, and methodologies.
- Experience working on Agile projects and familiarity with Agile terminology.
- Experience developing architectural recommendations, information solutions, and technical roadmaps.
- Experience with large-scale enterprise data integration and migration initiatives.
- Experience providing mentorship and knowledge transfer to junior and mid-level developers
