Automation Engineer IV (Contract)

Contract

Location: Philadelphia, PA (Hybrid 4x onsite weekly)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer IV to support the design, development, testing, and delivery of high-quality software solutions. This role will focus on test automation, quality engineering, database validation, and software development activities across complex enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Java, Python, test automation frameworks, SQL, and the software development lifecycle.

This is an opportunity to work closely with technical teams, business stakeholders, and quality engineering professionals to deliver scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and automated test scripts to ensure software quality and reliability.
  • Design, build, maintain, and enhance test automation frameworks and testing solutions.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing activities.
  • Track and report quality assurance metrics including defects, test results, and testing progress.
  • Analyze software quality data and recommend process improvements.
  • Design, develop, test, implement, and support software applications throughout the full development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, stakeholders, and development teams to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions.
  • Create clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that meets performance and quality standards.
  • Design and support relational database structures, data storage solutions, and data processing workflows.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries for application and database validation.
  • Participate in code reviews, quality audits, architecture discussions, and technical solution design.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote software quality best practices.


Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Approximately 8+ years of software development, quality engineering, testing, or related experience.
  • Strong experience with Java and Python development.
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks and quality engineering practices.
  • Experience creating and executing test strategies, test plans, and automated test cases.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience querying and validating relational databases.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design principles and software development best practices.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working within Agile development environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Machine Learning or data-driven applications.
  • Familiarity with database design, data integration, and data warehouse concepts.
  • Experience participating in system architecture and technical design discussions.
  • Exposure to performance monitoring, quality audits, and process improvement initiatives.
