Role Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Business Analyst with deep expertise in Embedded Payments and modern payment ecosystems within Banking and Financial Services. This role will be responsible for partnering with business, product, operations, and technology teams to define, document, and drive requirements for strategic payment initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience working on Embedded Payments, Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS), API-driven payment platforms, and payment modernization programs, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into delivery-ready functional specifications and user stories.
This individual should be comfortable working across multiple stakeholders, proactively driving discussions, identifying gaps, and ensuring successful execution of payment transformation initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities
- Partner with business, product, operations, and technology teams to gather and document requirements for Embedded Payments initiatives
- Lead discovery sessions, workshops, and stakeholder interviews to define business and system requirements
- Create and maintain:
- Business Requirements Documents (BRDs)
- Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs)
- Process flows and journey maps
- User stories and acceptance criteria
- Data mapping and API specifications
- Support initiatives involving:
- Embedded Payments
- Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS)
- ACH
- Wires
- Real-Time Payments (RTP)
- Cross-border payments
- Card payments
- Work closely with engineering teams on API integrations and payment orchestration solutions
- Analyze current-state and future-state payment processes and identify improvement opportunities
- Facilitate backlog grooming, sprint planning, and requirement clarification sessions
- Support UAT planning, test case review, defect triage, and production readiness activities
- Ensure solutions align with regulatory, compliance, operational, and risk requirements
- Drive stakeholder alignment and proactively manage requirement dependencies and risks
Required Skills & Experience
- 8 12+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst within Banking or Financial Services
- Strong experience in Payments domain
- Hands-on experience supporting:
- ACH
- Wires
- RTP
- Cards
- Payment hubs and payment gateways
- Proven experience gathering and documenting requirements for API-driven payment solutions
- Strong understanding of payment processing flows, settlement, reconciliation, and exception management
- Experience working in Agile environments with tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to independently drive requirements and lead business discussions
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Embedded Payments solutions and ecosystems
- Experience supporting Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) platforms
- Exposure to payments modernization programs
- Knowledge of ISO 20022 standards
- Experience working with:
- Payment orchestration platforms
- API ecosystems
- Open Banking frameworks
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures (AWS/Azure)
- Experience working with FinTech partners, payment processors, or third-party providers
- Understanding of microservices-based payment architectures
