Job Description:
5 7 years experience
We're looking for a Senior UX Researcher to help shape an industry-defining Foundation Model for AEC (architecture, engineering, and construction). You'll work at the intersection of ML systems and human-centered design - evaluating model behavior against real user experience, building the measurement infrastructure to do that rigorously, and ensuring insights travel across the teams that need them.
This is a high-autonomy role spanning multiple initiatives at once. You'll need to navigate organizational complexity, stay current on evolving AI products across Autodesk, and synthesize research threads into coherent product direction.
What you'll do
Research execution
Design, conduct, and analyze qualitative and quantitative studies across the full product lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on post-release validation of high-fidelity features.
Apply the right method to the problem: contextual inquiry, usability studies, surveys, participatory design workshops, analytics, and customer advisory councils.
AI and model evaluation
Evaluate AI model outputs and behavior against user experience goals, working fluidly at the ML UX boundary.
Build, own, and iterate on measurement protocols for both live and in-flight features.
Collaboration and communication
Deliver insights to designers, engineers, product managers, and ML researchers - adapting depth and framing for each audience, up to senior leadership.
Lead design thinking and visioning workshops to turn customer findings into product direction.
Evangelize research broadly: presentations, internal posts, workshops, and other formats that build empathy at scale.
What we're looking for
Experience
5+ years of user research embedded in a product or design organization, with a track record leading cross-functional research projects.
Comfort managing multiple research workstreams simultaneously and identifying connections across them.
Experience working across time zones with distributed teams.
Domain knowledge
Familiarity with AEC workflows, or hands-on experience with tools like AutoCAD or Revit. Direct industry background in architecture, engineering, construction, or transportation is a strong plus.
AI fluency
Practical experience with AI/ML products - evaluating model behavior, understanding failure modes, and connecting model performance to user outcomes.
Measurement
Deep experience designing measurement frameworks and evaluating features against defined success criteria both before and after release.
