As the Vice President of Mortgage Technology, you will own the technology that runs the loan origination business. You will lead the Mortgage Technology team-comprising a Development Lead, developers, system administrators, and Business Analysts-and be accountable for the stability, security, and evolution of the loan origination system and its surrounding ecosystem. This is a leadership role with a technical focus, balancing people management, delivery, and strategy to bridge the gap between business goals and the technology platform.

  • Own and communicate a multi-quarter roadmap for the platform and its integrations
  • Establish and run an intake and prioritization process for technology requests
  • Lead build-versus-buy and build-versus-configure decisions
  • Define and set direction for platform modernization initiatives, including migrating from legacy SDK to cloud-native APIs and event-driven architecture
  • Maintain the relationship with technology vendors and stay ahead of the product roadmap
  • Report on technology performance to executive leadership

Loan Point-of-Sale (POS) and Loan Origination System (LOS) Leadership
  • Lead the ongoing administration, enhancement, and optimization of mortgage loan point-of-sale platforms
  • Drive improvements in borrower and loan officer experiences through digital self-service and automation
  • Lead LOS modernization efforts to improve loan processing efficiency, quality, and compliance
  • Oversee integrations with underwriting, pricing, document management, and other third-party vendor platforms

People Management and Team Development
  • Lead, manage, and develop the Mortgage Technology team
  • Own the full people-management cycle: hiring, goal setting, coaching, performance reviews, and compensation
  • Plan team structure and headcount, managing a mix of employees and contractors
  • Build career paths and development plans for team members
  • Establish succession and coverage plans to eliminate single points of failure

Technology Delivery and Execution
  • Own end-to-end delivery for the Mortgage Technology portfolio, committing to dates and meeting them
  • Establish and manage the department's delivery cadence, including sprint or Kanban practices
  • Review and approve estimates, delivery plans, and resource allocation
  • Own production stability, including incident command for major issues and root-cause analysis

Engineering Standards, CI/CD, and Change Governance
  • Create and maintain the department's standards for the software development lifecycle
  • Define and own the CI/CD strategy for customizations and integrations
  • Establish and document the change management process
  • Set standards for configuration governance and technical documentation

Risk, Audit, and Compliance
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits, regulatory examinations, and due diligence requests
  • Fulfill audit requests and manage remediation of any findings
  • Own periodic user access reviews and entitlement recertification
  • Ensure technology practices support the company's regulatory and compliance obligations

Requirements:
  • 10 years in software development and technology delivery, including 5 years directly managing technical teams
  • 5 years working with a major mortgage technology platform, with depth in both development (SDK and/or APIs) and administration
  • Hands-on background in C#, VB NET and JavaScript
  • Demonstrated ownership of a technology delivery portfolio
  • Experience defining and implementing SDLC standards and CI/CD practices
  • Experience serving as a technology point of contact for audits and examinations
  • Experience owning a departmental budget, including planning and vendor negotiation
  • Strong understanding of the mortgage industry, including the loan life cycle and regulatory environment
  • Ability to communicate credibly with both executive and technical audiences
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Regular on-site attendance

Desired skills:
  • Experience leading technology for a mortgage lender, bank, or fintech in a regulated environment
  • Mortgage technology platform certifications (Administrator and/or Developer)
  • Experience with the broader mortgage technology product family and third-party platforms
  • Experience leading a legacy-to-cloud or SDK-to-API modernization program
  • Experience with SOC, SOX, GLBA, CFPB examination, or investor audit processes
  • Experience with data warehouse, reporting, and analytics delivery built on origination data
  • Experience managing distributed teams or consulting partners
