Role Overview
This position is for a Business Portfolio & Value Manager. The role focuses on the governance of business portfolios, which includes developing and implementing frameworks, methodologies, and measurements for projects, programs, and services. The objective is to identify, quantify, and track the realization of expected benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within a program portfolio team focused on planning, managing, and governing business portfolios and key initiatives.
- Lead and facilitate cross-functional planning to support discussions among work owners regarding resources, dependencies, and sequencing.
- Coordinate and synchronize portfolios through regular planning sessions to provide a common understanding of work streams, backlog, and outcomes.
- Monitor processes, tasks, and metrics, measuring performance against baseline scope, budget, time, and resources.
- Develop governing practices and principles to increase performance and lower operating costs.
- Recommend project and portfolio management processes to drive the timely and on-budget delivery of initiatives.
- Ensure transparency of business project portfolio status to enable fact-based decision-making.
- Analyze and assess the consistency of portfolio performance to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Develop executive-level reporting and metrics with a focus on visual depiction of information.
- Partner with others to support and enable change management efforts.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required.
Experience: Significant, progressively responsible experience in a Portfolio Management Office, Strategy Realization Office, or equivalent is required. This experience should be within a large organization, preferably a financial services organization.
Technical Skills: This role requires advanced knowledge of project lifecycles and management methodologies such as Agile, SDLC, SAFe, and Lean Portfolio Management. Advanced knowledge of Project Portfolio Management and expert skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software are necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Expert skill in the use of Microsoft Office Products, particularly Excel.
- Expert skill in the use of Azure DevOps (ADO).
- Experience working with business intelligence tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.
