SAP TM (Technical) Integration Consultant

Job Title: SAP TM (Technical) / Integration Consultant - SAP TM Implementation

Location: Atlanta, GA (Onsite)

Key Responsibilities:

ERP: TM Integration (Core)

• DRFOUT (Data Replication Framework) configuration for master data replication: business partners, locations, materials, and organizational data from S/4HANA to decentral TM
• SOAP/XI web service configuration for transactional integration: sales order, transportation demand, freight order, delivery, PGI, FI posting
• RFC destination setup (SM59), logical system configuration (BD54), SOA Manager endpoint registration
• Regression testing of any custom BAPIs, RFCs, or Z-programs affected by a version mismatch between the core S/4HANA and the decentral TM instance

SAP BTP Platform (Integration Layer)

• SAP Integration Suite (formerly CPI) — iFlow design and configuration for all external system integrations
• BN4L connectivity setup: carrier collaboration flows, freight order tendering, tracking event consumption, carrier portal provisioning
• Event Mesh configuration for real-time event-driven patterns (delivery confirmation, billing trigger, carrier status, TM event update)
• API Management setup for REST/OData endpoints used by carrier portals, mobile apps, and third-party systems
• BTP subaccount architecture, IDP/SSO configuration for external carrier users

Carrier EDI Integration

• EDI message mapping and testing: 204 (Load Tender), 990 (Response), 214 (Shipment Status), 210 (Freight Invoice)
• EDI partner profile configuration per carrier — message format validation, acknowledgment handling, error/exception workflow
• Coordination with carrier IT departments during integration testing — you will be on calls with carrier EDI teams, troubleshooting message failures

External System Integration

• FourKites / project44 SAP TM: real-time GPS tracking event consumption via BN4L connector, ETA updates, and exception alerting
• PC Miler and SMC3: distance/duration determination service integration (API calls via BTP or direct connection)

Technical Foundation

• System landscape management: dev, quality, production environment setup coordination with Basis
• Transport management for TM configuration objects
• Performance analysis for high-volume batch processing (CONA processes 160,000+ daily sales orders — TM background jobs for planning, tendering, and settlement must handle this throughput)
• Technical troubleshooting across the full integration chain — you’re the escalation point when something breaks between systems

Must-Have Experience:

• 2+ SAP TM implementations with significant integration responsibility — not just TM-internal config, but building the bridges between TM and surrounding systems
• DRFOUT master data replication setup between S/4HANA and decentral TM — hands-on experience with replication models, filters, and error handling
• SAP BTP Integration Suite (CPI) — iFlow development, message mapping, error handling, and monitoring. This is the middleware backbone and you must be fluent in it.
• EDI integration for carrier communication — X12 message mapping (204/990/214/210), partner profile configuration, and end-to-end testing with live carriers
• SOAP/XI and RFC-based integration patterns between SAP systems
• Experience with at least one external system integration in a TM context (visibility platform, load optimizer, map provider, or WMS)
• Debugging skills across the integration chain — you need to trace a failed transaction from the originating system through middleware to the target system, identify the break point, and fix it
• Understanding of SAP transport management and system landscape architecture

Highly Preferred:

• BN4L (Business Network for Logistics) technical setup — carrier tenant provisioning, document exchange configuration, tracking event mapping
• Blue Yonder integration experience — any flavor (API, file-based, middleware-orchestrated). Understanding the load plan data model is a significant advantage.
• FourKites, project44, or Descartes integration via API or BN4L connector
• SAP Event Management technical configuration — event handlers, rules, expected events, and event-to-action linkage
• PC Miler or SMC3 API integration — geocoding, distance matrix calls, and response caching (DDD buffer table)
• Performance tuning for SAP TM batch jobs — parallelization, job scheduling, and throughput optimization for high-volume environments
• ABAP debugging capability (for analyzing existing custom code during regression testing — not for new Z-development)
• REST/OData API development and API Management configuration on BTP
• Experience with RISE with SAP migration considerations — ensuring integration patterns are cloud-ready
• Beverage, CPG, or high-volume distribution industry experience
• For offshore resources: overlap availability with US Eastern Time (minimum 4 hours daily).
