Position Summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a DevOps Software Engineer to join a high-energy team supporting the DIA-NMEC DOMEX Technology Platform (DTP). This role involves building and deploying a cutting-edge technology stack as part of a 10-year program modernizing the DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P). The position requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver mission-critical capabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and maintain a full-stack, containerized microservices architecture.
  • Support systems administration, installation, and configuration.
  • Promote adoption of DevOps best practices across cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Deploy, triage, and maintain a production big-data pipeline built on Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and Kafka.
  • Enhance and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation to accelerate development and improve reliability.
  • Design and support scalable, redundant infrastructure across physical and virtual environments.
  • Use Helm to configure Kubernetes deployments for new features and evolving requirements.
  • Partner with Systems Engineers to architect solutions for new capabilities.
  • Contribute technical input to engineering documentation, diagrams, and models.
  • Participate in Agile release planning, scrums, design sessions, bug triage, and related team activities.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) with 8+ years of relevant experience; 6+ years with a Master's degree.
  • Strong Linux proficiency.
  • Hands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with CI/CD orchestration and GitLab.
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.
  • Demonstrated success working in cross-functional engineering environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating systems at scale.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Development experience with Bash, PowerShell, SALT, Python, Groovy, Java, etc.
  • Experience supporting enterprise or production systems.
  • Familiarity with Kafka or other messaging systems (AMQP, JMS).
  • Experience with Kubernetes monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Experience with GPU-based Kubernetes.
  • Experience with SALT for deployment automation.
  • Experience with Helm / Helmfile.
  • Experience with Nexus.
Required Education and Experience Equivalency
  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience.
  • Master's degree with 6+ years of experience.
