Project Description:
• The Client wants to select (1) experienced Senior Desktop Engineer with expert knowledge and experience of designing, managing, and optimizing desktop infrastructure and endpoint devices. The Contractor will develop a strategic blueprint and roadmap for desktop infrastructure and use tools to automate endpoint management processes including imaging, software packaging, and patch management. The Contractor will implement endpoint security protocols, manage endpoint antivirus solutions, and ensure computers align with industry security frameworks.
• The Client maintains approximately 2,300 physical endpoint devices, primarily laptops with a limited number of desktop systems. In addition, the organization utilizes approximately 700 virtual desktops hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS) Workspaces. The majority of devices operate on Microsoft Windows 11, while approximately 30 devices run macOS.
• Windows-based devices are managed through Microsoft Intune and Configuration Manager, with provisioning handled via Microsoft Autopilot. Device configurations are primarily enforced through Intune policies; however, certain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) remain in use. Patching and software deployments are administered through Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM). Currently, Windows devices are running Windows 11 version 24H2, and macOS devices are operating on macOS Sequoia (version 15). Mac computers are managed using JAMF. The Client has implemented a self-service software catalog via Microsoft Company Portal, enabling users to install authorized applications independently. System patches and updates are deployed according to a defined schedule to ensure compliance and security.
Minimum Technical Qualifications
- At least five (5) years of hands-on experience with IT infrastructure design, build, deploy, and support, focusing on desktop, laptop, and peripherals management.
- At least five (5) years of experience with design, build, deploy, and management of Desktop as a Service (DaaS) such as AWS Workspaces or Windows 365 (Cloud PC).
- At least five (5) years of experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell or Python to automate deployments and system builds.
- At least seven (7) years of experience performing device management utilizing enterprise management suites like Microsoft Intune, SCCM (MECM), and JAMF.
- At least ten (10) years of experience providing operational support, maintenance, patching, provisioning, software packaging, deployment, monitoring, and incident resolution for Windows and macOS devices and peripherals.
Desirable Technical Qualifications
- One or more of the following or related certifications (Client reserves the right to ask for a copy of all certifications):
a. Microsoft Windows Server Administrator
b. Microsoft 365 Endpoint Administrator
c. Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator - Experience providing consulting services to State and/or Federal agencies in the USA.
- Experience implementing endpoint security including BitLocker, Microsoft Defender, etc.
- Experience migrating Active Directory (AD) Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to Microsoft Intune policies.
- Experience managing and supporting devices running Windows 11 24H2 or higher and macOS 15 (Sequoia) or higher.
- The proposed project person will be able to adhere to the hybrid working model by working on-site 2–3 days per week.
