Microfocus Programmer

Role Type: Contract

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (On-site for training/initial work; potential for 1 day remote per week thereafter)

Location: Blythewood, South Carolina

Shift: EST

Interview Mode: One Round of Interviews

System Analysis: Analyze Phoenix II, Web Service, and batch business applications to identify areas for improvement or troubleshooting.

Full Lifecycle Development: Lead the analysis, design, coding, testing, and promotion of solutions to ensure requirements are met.

Production Support: Troubleshoot and resolve complex system problems in production environments.

Collaboration: Interact directly with business area specialists and work closely with UI tiers (.NET/C#) and database tiers.

Reporting: Provide detailed daily and weekly status updates to the development manager.

Micro Focus Visual COBOL: 8+ years of development experience in Windows Server 2019/2022 environments, specifically working with batch and IIS.

Visual Studio: 4+ years of experience with Visual Studio 2019/2022, including advanced use of the debugger.

RDBMS: 4+ years of application programming against Oracle and SQL databases.

Independence: Ability to develop technical approaches and designs with minimal supervision.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are mandatory for stakeholder interaction.

Experience with Micro Focus COBOL Version 7 or higher.

Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries for both Oracle and MS SQL.

Hands-on experience with IIS Configuration and Setup.

Technical skills in C# and .NET.

Relevant Microsoft or Micro Focus technical certifications.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in IT (or related) with 8 years of experience, OR a minimum of 10 years of related experience without a degree.
